Alright chaps, Apparently safc/we have agreed to sign him, as he was on loan at your place last season, how do you rate him?
He is a good keeper. Its a very good signing for you and I wished we could have got him At Hull City.
Wish we still had him. A great keeper who will only improve. A bit annoyed to see he is going to one of our opponents... Honestly, and this might sound ridiculous, but with all the great Italian keepers getting on a bit, I think he will be getting close to their 23-man national squad soon. But only if he regularly plays in the Prem. ^That last part about the national side is purely based on whether or not he gets to play every week in the Prem for a few seasons. I wouldn't expect him to be first or second choice for Italy either, but maybe third or fourth choice at best.
It was the season before, we had him and Guzan on loan at different times and he was rated the more highly, interesting considering how well Guzan did for Villa last year. The draw back was that he was a little 'fragile' and picked up a few injuries, which is why we ended up getting Guzan in again. He was a good keeper, but given he last played for us almost a year and a half ago it will be interesting to see how he's developed
He did a good job for us and he's popular with City fans, but this is the Premier League and I hope you're signing him as your number one, as we need three teams to **** up next season. He looked good in the Championship, he's not looked so clever in the Premier League, with regular football he might well make the step up, but I'm not convinced(though I'm likely to be on my own with this opinion).
I 100% agree with you - there have been loads of posts on here practically begging the club to get him back, and while he did a decent job for us in the Championship I really don't get all the love for him, maybe it was because our previous keepers had been so utterly dreadful he stood out a bit more. He didn't look commanding at corners/free kicks and his kicking was awful, good shop stopper and he suited our style for getting the ball out quickly, but I think there are much better keepers around.
Thanks for the feedback fellas, i shall take this insight back to our board Good luck for next season, apart from when you play us
Seems De Canio is intent on building a team around Italian players. All very well until he gets the sack......
Mannone was probably the stand out Championship keeper when he was with us but his ability to step up to the next level appears wide of the mark. He's still fairly young for a keeper, but I think with us being linked with Simon Moore at Brentford, we're going to be getting the better prospect if it comes off.
