if they get him back for anything under 20 mil it would be a cracking deal for them after banking 35 mil
How come some clubs make offers, deal done sharpish and thats it. We appear to f*ck about for weeks and other clubs nip in. Not saying we were after him but, if true, Pards has some bloody good players at his disposal.
Italian giants AC Milan and West Ham United have been linked in the past few days - but now Newcastle have shown their hand and made a loan offer for their former striker. looks like its on loan not to buy. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11669/7903117/Toon-move-for-Carroll
Do we though? I cant remember the club saying they were after someone then weeks later he goes somewhere else, since David Nugent done it, and phillips before that. since those 2 we have kept it quiet who we were after, just press speculation for the most part.
Why not? He's a great striker, well worth the cash we'd have payed for De Jong. Ba, Cisse and Carroll striker force = Beast.
Some of our own daft lads would have him just so they could say we have got someone at last? I say thats complete ****ed up thinking personally but hey what the **** do I know? Wouldnt have the long haired Gatesheed puff for free mesel like.
Sky Sports understands that Newcastle United have made a sensational bid to re-sign Andy Carroll from Liverpool. The Magpies have offered to take Carroll on a season-long loan with a view to that deal becoming permanent. New Reds boss Brendan Rodgers hinted earlier this week that he could be ready to listen to offers for the England striker. Sky Sports revealed on Sunday that the Reds would only consider selling him, while the player would only reluctantly consider a loan switch away from Anfield. Italian giants AC Milan and newly-promoted West Ham United have been linked with his services in the past few days, but now Newcastle have shown their hand and made a loan offer for their former striker. Newcastle sold Carroll to Liverpool on January deadline day in 2011 for £35million, at the time the eighth most expensive deal in football history. However, since moving to Merseyside, Carroll has struggled to show any real form with 11 goals in 56 appearances and just six in the league. Carroll did put in some excellent performances towards the end of the season, including in the FA Cup final loss to Chelsea, and that spell earned him a place in Roy Hodgson's England squad for Euro 2012. Carroll again did well with England, scoring against Sweden, but despite his performances in Poland and Ukraine new Reds chief Rodgers is seemingly unconvinced. Now Newcastle have made a move for the Gateshead-born hit-man who was widely criticised by the Geordie faithful following his decision to move to Anfield. However, should Newcastle persuade Liverpool to do a deal then there is little doubt the 23-year-old would not be warmly welcomed back to his native Tyneside.
I would have him as a player as I believe he could be and probably will be a bloody good striker in the next couple of years. Playing for and supporting the toon is a huge negative though, as well as the £35,000,000 price tag on his head and whatever wages he is on at liverpool. But I still think he will be a top notch player, but we will never see him in a Sunderland Shirt.
He's young, English but most importantly a good striker on his day. Sure he has some off field issues. It didn't quite happen for him last season. It might not again this season if he went back. But then we might see the player Liverpool thought they were getting. A loan with a view to a permanent transfer is a win win situation. Thats before any transfer fees are factored in.
I agree with all of this, and certainly your reasons for not having him would be mine. He's not 'die hard' NUFC as such, as he's from a split family, but he is a Toon fan, and I know he never really wanted to leave. If he came here his bridges would be permanently burned, an I don't think he'd want that, although I don't see why the Toon would need him, as Ba is a better player.
Ba--------------Carrol-------------Cisse A nice front line... and in the derby they can weel out the "slayer" again aswell That relegation seems so long ago now... with saha, fletcher and Defoe being linked ... i trust MON to the full but hope he manages to get a decent striker in this summer
