Through to Monday's BBC-televised draw, the Robins are hoping to land a Premier League giant after surviving a potential giant-killing act at the hands of AFC Telford. And after watching Kieran Agard deliver a last-gasp 1-0 win over second round opponents Telford, Cotterill is setting his sights on a mouth-watering tie against Louis van Gaal’s millionaire superstars in January. please log in to view this image Asked who he would like in the draw, the 50-year-old declared: “Manchester United would be nice! “We’ve had our day as red-hot favourites, now it’s our turn to be underdogs against a bigger team from a higher league. “I know which role I would prefer and it would be great for everybody at the club if we could come out of the hat with one of the big Premier League sides. “Manchester United at Old Trafford would be fantastic for my players and our supporters.” Cotterill felt his side deserved the late goal that prevented them having to travel to Telford for a replay tomorrow week. City had 66 per cent of possession and their manager said: “I felt we put in a good performance. We knew we might have to be patient when we didn’t come out of the blocks quickly and score an early goal and I thought my lads stuck to their task really well. “They kept passing the ball, refused to panic and stuck with the game-plan right up until the end. Their running and their character were second to none and they were rewarded in the end. "I know Telford created a few good chances, but I expected Frank Fielding to make the saves he made and there is no doubt we deserved to win the game.” Cotterill lavished praise on non-League Telford, who came withing three minutes of becoming only the fourth side to shut out City this season. He told The Post: "This was Telford's day and I thought they were magnificent. They defended brilliantly, put blocks in, put their bodies on the line and made us work really hard for the win. "It didn't really matter what we did, because this was always going to be about Telford and their supporters. They've had a really good day and played their part in a decent game." City match-winner Agard experienced a mixture of relief and elation as he swept in the winning goal in the second minute of added time. He said of his eighth goal of the season: “It was a great flick on by Aaron Wilbraham at the near post and I had time to bring the ball down before getting my sot off. “When I saw it go in, I felt real joy and elation, because I knew it was late on in the game and we would probably win. But I also felt relief because, the last thing we wanted was to go all the way to Telford for a replay.” Agard admitted Telford surprised the League One leaders with the quality of their performance and he conceded: “They gave us a really tough game. “Based on that display, I’m surprised they are bottom of the Conference. If they continue to play like that, I cannot see them going down.” City keeper Frank Fielding was awarded the man of the match champagne and he felt it was one of those days when the result was more important than the performance. He said: “It’s the Cup and winning is all that mattered. So long as you are in the draw for the next round, nobody really remembers how you got there. “I was really pleased for the rest of the boys when Kieran stuck that one in at the end, because they stuck to their task and kept going until the very end. We could have panicvked when the goal ddn't come, but we kept passing the ball and playing our usual game . I WOULD LIKE TO THINK WE could get Sunderland, big gate, Newcastle big gate and maybe a squeak of 4th round then against MU gunners or everton
Anyone of the top 8 in the Prem away (for financial purposes) or anyone we can beat at home. Given the restricted attendance allowed currently we're better off playing one of the big boys away
Given the capacity of AG at the moment I really hope it's away to a club that will sell out regardless what they think of the cup. Liverpool or Everton would be great.
Have waited the whole of my City years (56) to get Manchester United away, a visit to the theatre of dreams would be a dream come true, it will not happen though, be something like Chesterfield away!
Someone like Brentford or Rotherham away is what we normally get- No dis-respect, but we are unlikely to win or get a decent gate and some cash- We did get Chelsea at home a long time back and beat them 3-1. They were in the old Div 1 but nowhere near as big as they are today-
The side we play is doncaster ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh comon u reds, here we go here we go Fourth round is a big possibility
Last ball out of the hat!- There were 6 teams left one of which was Man U!- Then Norwich. At least we avoided Sheff U and Preston
its a positive. Out fo Preston away or Doncaster away, I would have taken Donny 100%. The clash of two teams managed by Sean O'Driscoll. Surely that means we will be televised live on BBC.
Seriously underwhelmed. Small gate with no big pay day, risk of injuries, cards and playing catch up on matches v Peterborough at home and Doncaster away in league.
