Team News Manchester United After a convincing 4-0 win over Wigan Athletic United look to start their 2012/13 Champions League campaign with a win against Turkish league leaders Galatasaray. Sir Alex will want to avoid a repeat of last seasons dismal showing in the group stage which saw United dumped into the Europa League. Robin Van Persie is expected to return to the starting line up in place of Javier Hernandez. Japanese play maker Shinji Kagawa is also expected to return to the starting line up after being left out vs. Wigan on Saturday. Wayne Rooney and Phil Jones remain absent while David De Gea & Antonio Valencia could also be in contention for a start. With a game at Liverpool next weekend United fans will be curious to see which Manchester United side Sir Alex decides to go with. Player to Watch Shinji Kagawa The classy Japanese star has made an impressive start to his Manchester United career and will look to impress on his European debut. United lacked a player of Kagawa's quality last season and will hope he can help United pick up the 3 points. -------------------- Team News Galatasaray Galatasaray defeated Medical Park Antalyaspor 4-0 in the Spor Toto Super League at the Akdeniz University Stadium on Saturday night September 15. Galatasaray’s Johann Elmander was was on the scoresheet last Saturday, as Galatasaray overcame Antalyaspor with ease. He is expected to lead the line at Old Trafford. Other notable players withing the Galatasaray ranks are former Liverpool striker Milan Baros, former Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue aswell as Felipe Melo and Umut Bulut. Galatasaray defenders Tomas Ujfalusi and Sabri Sarioglu are both out injured. Player to Watch Johann Elmander The Swede bagged 12 goals to help Galatasaray to the Turkish title last season and has continued his goal scoring form into this season.
We should win this. Hopefully no messing about from Fergie. Strong team, job done. Lets get qualified within 4 games and then **** about. 2-0
Not qualifying from the group 2 years in a row would be shocking, the players should be well up for this game.
De Gea Rafael Evans Vidic Evra Valencia Scholes Anderson Young Kagawa RVP something like this I expect, save Buttner for Anfield and protect Evra, play Scholes as I dont think he will have a massive impact at Anfield and get Kagawa and RVP fired up for the weekend.
Good match thread mate My eyes will be focused on Kagawa. We will know whether our midfield is better than in the last campaign. Last season every decent European team cut through our midfield like f**king butter.
Dutch media report that Büttner will be benched this evening because Evra has recovered from a minor injury.
Evra was always going to start. Think Buttner played v wigan to bed him in so Fergie has the choice of leaving Evra out at Anfield.
I think Buttner played primarily to give Evra rest, we all know he needs it. I don't think anyone saw Buttners performance coming, hopefully he woke Evra up from his bed of complacency. Unless he's hurt Evra will start against Liverpool, and I think Buttner will get the start in Turkey.
I think the team might be this: De Gea, Rafeal, Ferdinand,Vidic,Evra, Valencia,Carrick,Scholes,Nani,Kakawa, Van Persie or lindegaard, Rafeal, Ferdinand,Vidic,Evra, Valencia,Carrick,Kakawa,Nani,Van Persie,Welbeck/Hernandez
According to the BBC two of their defenders are out... If that is true it's a big loss for them in defense, Ujfalusi is still the club captain I think and has bags of experience, and Sarioglu is a very dangerous attacking fullback with bags of energy, they still have plenty of dangerous players in midfield and attack though, and Bulut has been on fire for them up front this season.
cheers pyscho. When I made the thread I couldnt find anything. Checked their official site and everything. Will update the OP
