    No match day thread? Slackers!

Here is to another winning thread!

I predict a 2-1 win for us with Casemiro getting sent off for appearing to be strangling Palace player during an all out brawl by the side of the pitch.

Great to see that we keep winning these “easy” games.

That was a tough one after losing Casemiro. Good to see the team stayed disciplined. The ref almost didn’t want to blow the final whistle after the 7th minute of added time. But we held on!

These games are never easy as evident from rivals losing today.

I'm still concerned that our crappy goal difference will come to haunt us at the end of the season. I know there is nothing we can do now except keep banging them in but everyone around us is a threat if we are level on points..

He could have been banned for worse games, but not ideal whoever.

Leeds away will be a derby ish, but we're surely too good?

Leeds and Leicester at home we should win, or we've no right to consider ourselves genuine contenders.

Palace a more difficult opponent to any of those and we scraped by, which is a positive of sorts.

It was a melee and many players from both sides were involved. The pitch referee in the end brought the whole thing under control. Many other players could have had cards (yellow or red) if the strict letter of the law was applied to all. Yet Casemiro gets singled out.

Classic example of the VAR official not seeing the wood for the trees . And the inconsistency is disgraceful too : Martinez being whacked in the face, Eriksen being recklessly injured without VAR intervening.

I haven't seen any of it but I was keeping track of the score while I was out, and at 2-1 thinking please don't fck it up.

    3 points and 3rd.

I'll take that all day long.

Arsenal and Liverpool losing also a bonus.

Livpl and Chelsea defo out of the Top 4 running imo.

Only Spurs left. I wouldn't mind City actually winning tomorrow to take the pressure off top 4.

Just watching the game and the sending off.

Stupid from Casemiro tbf to get involved when it was nothing to do with him.

Still love the bloke though <laugh>

There was a period of about 3/4 minutes in added time when the ball was in the Palace end and they got about 7 or 8 throw ins in a row, the reason being there were about 3/4 United players like Rashford and Fred who just would NOT let the throw in reach the Palace players.

They were diving in, blocking every Palace touch and forcing throw in after throw in. And you could see the Palace players getting proper pissed off bcos they couldn't get the ball out and up the pitch. And the United fans cheering on each and every block and ball kicked out. It was brilliant, proper dogged defending up the pitch.

I doubt they'll show much if any of it on MOTD though.

You really have to applaud the team spirit that we see on display week in and week out. Every man is dedicated to one thing - fight for the team! No more fkin egos running around!

There were a lot of warriors on that pitch today when they were needed. Martinez, Varane and Shaw go without saying. The players you mentioned were notable but so too was Bruno and before he went off Antony (who puts in a very good shift helping Obi Wan whilst also developing a very promising link up top with him).

Also like the look of Sabitzer when he came on for the first time in difficult circumstances, looks a man who is prepared to fight right from the off and looks to have the pace to get around the pitch.

Agree with all of that, including Antony.

Sabitzer put in a brilliant challenge to set Rashford up with a run on goal. But Mariner saw a foul which nobody else did, not even the Palace players iirc. Even the commentators said they'd seen no foul there at all. It was an awful decision.

If you look at the different angle on Motd, Casemiro didn't even grab him round the neck, he had his collars.

Grounds for appeal? Or can we not?

I watched the full game on Sky (game of the day) and at the time they showed all of it and my initial reaction was he had him by the collar/shirt. But when they showed it from behind I thought I'd got it wrong. It's refreshing to see all 3 on MOTD saying it wasn't a red.

But if we appeal I'm sure they'll stonewall it and the ban will get extended. Would make those working in VAR look even more incompetent and they won't allow that!

Not true mate, only Newcastle has superior goal difference in 'top 4' race. Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool all got rubbish goal difference.

Admittedly, City and Arsenal are better if we see ourselves as being in a title race. (which we should!)

If we continue to play to this new system of every man for the team, then second place will be within reach. If City beats Arsenal, then the title will certainly be wide open to three teams. Five points is not insurmountable when there are so many games left to play. Arsenal can certainly cave in to the pressure.
