So, got a big game this week. In Gdansk, 20.00 kick off.

Europa league final against the Spanish equivalent of Kilmarnock or St Mirren apparently, so we should win this one, right?

    And yes, we should.

    The preferred team should be;

    de Gea
    Wan Bissaka
    Maguire
    Lindelof
    Shaw
    McTominay
    Pogba
    Fernandes
    Rashford
    Cavani
    Greenwood

Subs; Tuanzebe, Telles, Bailly, Henderson, Mata, Fred, James, Matic, Williams, Diallo, DVDB, Martial

ad yes, Villareal is an actual place.

    Monring.

    I bet you do.

I also bet you'll be watching won;t you, just like everyone else.

I'd be surprised we don't get better viewing figures than the CL final.

    Villareal finished in 7th place.

Their last 4 results - lost to Celto Vigo, beat Valladolid, beat Sevilla, and their last game lost to Real Madrid.

Just to add Villareal have one of the nicest stadiums in La Liga, not that that matters but I've always liked it.

    United Team:

Defence: De Gea to start no question. Maguire is in the squad but I doubt he's going to play. In fact I'd prefer he doesn't as it could be a disaster if he's not fit. Of course that means Bailly and Lindelof will HAVE to be at the top of their game. That isn't helped by having Fred in front of them, but hopefully McTominay will do enough to make up for it.

We rely a lot on Shaw for our attacks, and that may prove useful in keeping Gaspar pushed back as he's a danger man for Villareal down their right side. He's defo one to keep quiet.

Attack: The most troublesome part of this will be if (and it looks likely) Rashford plays on the right with Pogba on the left. I think that's a direct consequence of trying to play Fred and McTominay in midfield as it squeezes Pogba out. Personally, Rashford has ALWAYS been his most dangerous coming in from the left and would be my preferred position.

Bruno will be pivotal, as will his link up play with Pogba, Rashford and Cavani.

    Villareal Team:

Main threats: Villareal are not without their own injury problems. It's unlikely Chukwueze will play or Foyth who are both pretty decent. Moreno will pose a threat up top along with Alcacer. Capoue in midfield and as mentioned before, Gaspar are also likely be involved in creating chances going forward.

Anyway really looking forward to this match. I just hope our performance does the final justice and we don't pay them so much respect that we sit back, pass it around in our own half, afraid to go forward.

Cavani brace to win it! :bandit:

    It's Villareal though.

One the one had the equivalent of a mid table Scottish premier side, on the other really, really dangerous and to be feared.

Come on. A bit of an exaggeration to say that they are equivalent to Kilmarnock. They gave Real Madrid a tough game last weekend. So a win is not a given.

of course we should win it. I would have been more optimistic if Maguire was playing. He provides more confidence to the defence. Without him the defenders have been at sixes and sevens at times.

It won’t be a surprise for us to concede first and then spend the rest of the match chasing. Story of our season.

I think this would've been a tougher match (more awkward perhaps) if the team finishing 8th in the PL had made it to the final instead of the team finishing 7th in La Liga. That's the gooners btw.

    Nah, disagree.

We'd piss it against Arsenal, they're ****. As long as we didn't play for a ****ing draw.

I don't think we've ever managed a goal against Villareal?

They are ****. They have been all season and we've bottled both times we've played them.

I couldn't say, I can't remember the last time we played Villareal.

I have to watch La Liga most nights, you've clearly not enjoyed the spectacle of the likes of Granada v Cadiz on a Sunday night. It's like Reading v Watford.

One thing that you can guarantee is that Villareal, like all Spanish sides, will defend well. Villareal simply don't have the fire power that we do but they can break with speed. If our defence is solid we should win. I've put my money on 3 -1 to us.

It's a strange one this. I hope we score first so they have to come out but I'm worried what we'll do is try and sit on a lead and invite pressure, and we're not great at that tbh.

Everyone expects us to win this match and that makes me worried.

I hope we can control the game and the outcome.
