Season defining match for JM. Apart from getting CL, winning a trophy was the second essential objective. The league is gone ages ago. This is a must win match (or go through via pens if necessary) I would probably play Rashford or Martial instead of Sanchez.
I'd play Pogba or Mata instead of Sanchez. You can then play Martial and Rashford, although one would need to be off the right. The simple fact is that signing Sanchez was completely unnecessary. We did it to stop City having him and they romped away with the league anyway.
Just a side issue, I wonder if the stadium will be branded with all the Spurs tat or will the FA have them remove it all for the day.
Spurs winning 2-1. Spurs score first. When United try to equalise, spurs score a 2nd. Then after lots of effort united pull one back and that’s it. United out.
I don't think the signing was completely unnecessary - we were competing for three trophies at the time and Mickey wasn't contributing anything, so getting Sanchez on a free to boost the squad was a good deal. Adding a top class striker is rarely unnecessary for a top side, it's how they are used that matters. The problem is that Mourinho has not used him to boost the squad, he has played him in pretty much every game regardless of form. He should have been used like Larson in 2007, offering experience and an option off the bench, not as a starter. Starting Sanchez was a key reason we lost to Sevilla, and I do hope he's finally dropped for today.
same mistakes over and over .. we used to go attacking them yet we start again conservative with 3 in mid .. slow build up .. no penetration .. no closing down,.. no pace
just so we waste no time .. may be FA can start every match with UTD losing 1-0 so our players can start really playing earlier
Not a bad game and the best performance I've seen from Sanchez. Pogba, Herera, Smalling and Jones all did a good job keeping us solid. We could improve but that display is about as good as it gets under Jose.
Best game since joining from Sanchez. Lingard continuing a really good season. First time i have seen matic have a quiet game by his standards. We won, happy days looking forward to the final.
Well that was a surprise. The performance at Wembley today was as good as that previous one was bad. There was a determination and a hunger which should be expected of FA cup semifinalists but somehow cannot be taken for granted with our players. We played well apart for the first 25 minutes. Now let’s go and win it. (#nojinx)
