With a 100% success rate this comes down to me. Must win game, simple as that. Can't be arsed to flesh this out with pointless detail beyond that. Interesting fact; this is a must win game.
It is over here. In fact every game is on over here. Shame I don't get a chance to watch much of them.
For a man who talks about possession football, it's mind-boggling that he doesnt play the very players suited to possession football - namely Mata who was exactly suited for the game last Monday. Instead he picks Fellaini who offers nothing possession wise - being played specifically for the long ball. And why Rafael cant get a game ahead of Valencia is another mystery. Carrick and Herrera is also a no brainer. ----------------------DDG Rafael----Smalling----Jones---Rojo ---------Herrera-----Carrick Januzaj ---------Mata---------Young ---------------------Rooney We really can win this and with the players we have, we really should be.
We should be but as this is one of the weirdest premiership I've experienced, anything can happen. FFS Burnley have beaten city and deservedly so, who would have thought ? United could suddenly click and beat Spurs easily. But i am not holding my breath. It is just so frustrating that LVG puts so much emphasis on possession and not attack or penetration. I think mopo will sit back and defend and counterattack like arsenal or Southampton.
My lad is 19 months old now and seems to be taking up all my spare time, which I don't seem to have a lot of. Because he is not sleeping properly through the night, getting up at 4 am or what every time the games are on, has become a near impossibility. Actually I don't seem to watch any tele at all apart from babytv
It's just possession for the sake of possession. I watched PSG 3 times this season and they play brilliant possession football. I believe in possession football. While ppl argued at the start of the season that we needed Fellaini for his defensive ability my belief was that if you have players who can keep possession you don't need Fellaini. Van Gaal is giving possession football a bad name tbh. What Blanc is doing with possession football is sublime. And our players in Mata, Herrera, Di Maria, Carrick are every bit as capable of doing that.
The majority of these players have never played such a way in their lives. Its a completely alien style of football with absolutely no basework put in previously. Weve played under one mans style fir a quarter of a decade. Why is it a surprise that it takes a little longer to grasp a new concept? Even Wenger has never got it right and hes had 10 years headstart. Before that they played efficient football that wasnt exactly pretty on the eye. Oh and there is always a purpose for the possession. We have the ball and the opposition don't at the very least.
Both Mourinho and van Gaal dont think Mata is as good as we might think. When things are hunky dory he is a great asset. When there's hard work hes not such a good asset. I suspect they are far better positions than anyone on here to make that judgement. ---------------------------------------- He starts today apparently.
Yeah, ok. Us being mere fans we just blindy accept his assessment that Fellaini is a better bet than Mata. Our of interest, what do you think of his assessment that Valencia is a better right back than Rafael?
What way is that? Boring, meaningless sideways passing and then a punt up field to a beanpole with an Afro? I dare say you're right. But if you're talking about a passing game which is used to push and pull the defence and create penetrative attacking football through possession...I'm pretty bloody sure the technically driven Catalan, Basque and Latin American regions these players have developed in, know a thing or two about it. Your last sentence is complete bollox. I literally find it that offensive mate. It's not just about having the ball, it's what you do with it.
