Live on TNT Sports 1. Southampton head into this game following a victory in the FA Cup over Championship opposition giving Juric his first victory as manager. Juric went with much of his first team highlighting that at Championship level the squad looks superior to most opponents but the challenge is to be competitive at a much higher level. Premier League opponents Manchester United won on penalties after extra time and being down to ten men. United themselves are in poor form and a game against the Saints might be exactly what they wanted to reignite their season. Southampton will have to use the positivity from our Sunday victory to instill a defensive score a miracle goal on the counter approach. Team likely to be similar to Sunday with Bednarek a doubt and Downes likely to replace Aribo in a more defensive position should he be fit. Will the enigmatic Sulemana start and spark to light?! Ramsdale Bree Walker-Peters Manning Harwood-Bellis Bednarek/Wood Downes/Aribo Ugochukwu Fernandes Dibbling Sulemana Please post your thoughts on how Saints can find an unlikely point or victory.
We’re overdue too! Really hope Juric and co are now more able to put out a team that cares and shows some spirit even if we lose.
2 tricky away games in a week. Who'd have thought that Forest in 3rd would seem harder than this game v Utd in 16th. Any points from these would be unexpected.
No chance of a win in either games. Anything less than 3-0 in both games would be all we can hope for.
The table is looking really embarrassing, we need some points soon. I’ve gone from apathy and despair to anger.
Sutton's prediction:- 2 - 0 Saints may come into this game with a bit of confidence after beating Championship side Swansea in the FA Cup, ending a run of 12 games without a victory that went back to the start of November. I still think United will find a way to win, but I am not so sure it will be a completely routine one. Rory Kinnear's prediction:- I watched United's last home game, against Newcastle, and they were absolutely awful. I still can't see them not beating Southampton though. 2 - 0 Dave Fishwick's prediction:- United have had such a lot of stick that I think they are going to have a decent win. 3 - 1
My prediction: One all. Saints get a lucky goal and the crowd get on the United player's backs. We hold out until late on then concede from a silly error.
Surely not a silly error? Perish the thought. A new dawn awaits. Saints to win 4-0 and be mid-table by February. Those mushrooms were delicious.
Fed up of being optimistic of a change after the last few games. The Swansea game was nice but it was more of an indication of the gap between the prem and championship. I'll settle for anything better than a 5-0 battering. That would be progress in some direction.
