I thought it came off the leg of the player who dived in first, but as soon as they showed the replay I thought it was a pen.
Great game, even at 1-1 so early on, nothing had changed we needed 2 goals and after 2-1 we were where Ole had wanted us to be so game plan was still in tact. As for the penalty, it was as much of a pen as Carrick's against Chelsea 11 years ago and nobody questioned that. I saw the Ajax game as well, and tbh I hope we get them in the next round. Personally I thought Real Madrid lacked any real desire, they gave Ajax ridiculous time and space on the ball to play their game, and they did well but Ajax still played an open game which would suit us.
Exactly. If you keep yourself in the game and get the ball in the oppo box anything can happen. Full credit
It could be worse, I could be a chelsea fan. As for Jose, I refer you to my disclaimer below. Aye, under the current rules, no matter how bizarre, it was a pen. Problem is always how to balance consistency and common sense. The current rules give consistency, i.e. if the arm is away from the body at all it's a penalty. Obviously he wasn't trying to handle it, but as soon as you bring any sort of intent or judgement into it you lose consistency and that becomes the latest buzzword. I'm just glad it worked in our favour this time
2007 - Liverpool lose CL final 2008 - Utd win CL 2016 - Liverpool lose EL final 2017 - United win EL 2018 - Liverpool lose CL final Just saying.....
Your CL form this season away from home is horrific, so I’m looking forward to that game. I hear Bayern are ordering extra wind.
Hmmm... seems that the big clubs are bottling it at home. Somehow looks like it's good to play the second leg away this year. I can see Bayern feeling the pressure after RM and PSG this week and at 0-0 can see them becoming nervous about the away goal.
I'm not even a Man U fan (Wycombe to the core) but my son is as dedicated as one can be, and we watched the match over here in France (at home on the Tele). What a crazy evening that was. From leaping around the room shouting after 2 minutes to the inevitable equaliser (can't help thinking back to the nonchalance of MBappe after that equaliser, as if to say "We've got it under control; we'll coast it now". . Little did he know this was the old Man U, back with a vengeance under the baby faced assassin. We didn't think it was a penalty at first (neither did most of the Man U players) and wondered what was going on. Clearly it was a penalty (thanks to VAR) and all credit to the ref for using the VAR in injury time in Paris knowing the consequences of a conversion. Rashford held his nerve in what must have been the most pressure anyone could face in a football match. Then the eruption as the ball hit the back of the net (I cleaned up the broken glass after). The 9 ****ing minutes of stoppage. We won't be forgetting that game. My son actually posted the 3-1 on FB before the game (PSG 1 MUK 3) - K for kids with all the injuries etc. Fantastic performance. Well done MU and I can't imagine what would happen if he doesn't get the contract after that
I hate to ask, but which one are you calling that? I've not seen the news yet but I hope it's nothing serious. Just surprised it's happened so long after the game.
The frog, obviously. I'm not racist, bar frogs and convicts. I don't like your club, but I wouldn't wish that on any of your supporters. I don't think it was too serious.
I'm not making another thread when there's a perfectly good one here. How much are we going to lose by tonight? Martial will be back. But no Maguire or Greenwood. Pretty sure McTominay and Fred will be dropped. So probably Pogba, Matic and Fernandes start. Donny on the bench.
