It doesn't matter we didn't have our best team out, there's no excuse for such a negative approach - sit deep, defend, defend, defend.

 

I thought it was a pretty good workout at this stage of pre-season, how do you think Roy would have played it?

 

Good workout? The players hardly ran, just sat in. Even the few occasions we got possession of the ball in Liverpool's half no one got up in support.

Roy would commit men forward, press, increase the energy. We might still have lost with that team but it would have been a better game and we'd have threatened their goal.

 

Get beaten 7-1 by Everton as a result...

 

Can just imagine Mourinho's pre-match team talk .. "Ok .. I've already told the media not to expect much from us tonight ... as our best players are still on holiday you lot will have to do until they get back ... then most of you will be away on loan ... just try and keep the scoreline respectable .. if all goes badly wrong I'll blame it on Luke ... right Luke? ...'yes boss' .. What was Mourinho’s excuse?

 

Think he said the ref was a baseball referee.

I’m sure our academy players must be so motivated by the **** Mourinho is spouting.

 

I like to think United have better players than Sunderland.

What I like is the way Roy took responsibility on his shoulders after that defeat to protect the team. He didn't hide and say these players aren't good enough for the PL and won't be here next season or pick out individual players.

That most of those players will be on loan or not starting next season, that the World Cup players aren't dedicated enough to come back early, that Martial wanted to look after his wife and newborn rather than play defensive football...
