    Good article

The rivalry between LFC and UTD is the biggest in England and i'm even going to say that the rivalry is bigger between us and UTD then between us and Everton
UTD see city as their little brother that still has to grow up like we say the same about Everton And with growing up i mean SUCCESS

Very good read <ok> I still hate losing to the bitters the most though.

  5. Wouldn't that be down to the bitters being a small club whereas Man Utd, although painful, is a more acceptable game to lose? <whistle>

PS....am I allowed to WUM as a MOD?

No it's purely a local thing with me mate. Half my mates are bitters, some family and fellas in my local (even though it's a Red pub really). The derbies are always the first games I look for on the fixtures and always will be <ok>

PS Carry on wumming <laugh> you're a mod not a saint

  7. Yeah, realised that pal. It's usually the scousers that see the derby as the bigger game and the non-scousers that look at the Man Utd match <ok>

In my heart the Derby match will always be the most important. As for the United match it's only the result that matters.

However, you can't get past the fact that Sunday's match will attract the world's biggest tv audience for a single sporting event.

  9. It is the opposite way around for me but that's because I don't really know any Everton fans but know loads of Man Utd supporters <ok>

The time zone thing seems to be a problem Bluff.

Can you ban someone tomorrow, today? <laugh>

Good article by the way. I love and hate this fixture I get nervous and almost can't wait for it to be over.

The rivalry between United and Liverpool is more heated.

The comparison between the two Clubs' trophy count is a clear driver, and culturally, it is much easier to 'hate' someone you rarely meet from 38 miles down the road, than it is to carry that intensity around with you on a daily basis, in your own back yard, especially when many of the City/Everton fans are your own friends and family.

But there is little doubt that this game's ranking of importance has been diminished in recent years, and the Manc derby is now by far the biggest game in English domestic football.

The "English domestic game" is of decreasing global interest whereas the numbers and hence the return from this game globally continues to grow.

By that rationale it should also be much easier to 'hate' someone from much further away - you're much more likely to find Liverpool fans in Manchester than you are Arsenal fans, and vice versa for Liverpool, so why is there not so much 'hatred' between Utd and Arsenal fans?

The Manchester derby is the biggest game in English domestic football, but that is purely down to us being the top two clubs in the country. It's ultimately no different from the Utd-Chelsea and Utd-Arsenal games from five and ten years ago respectively - the size of the game is down to the quality of the teams more than the rivalry between the clubs. Utd-Liverpool will be the most important rivalry until and unless City can remain a rival for a much longer period of time.

Yeah... be careful Swarbs. When Woy was with us he was clearly trying to ingratiate himself with united. He wants to be Fergies successor.

FC United could be your main rivals before long... ;)
