So we're on the road again to what would appear to be a lambs to the slaughter situation City having gone 34 Premier League games at the Etihad Stadium since their last loss against Brentford in November 2022. That's the sixth longest home unbeaten run in the Premier League era, Chelsea hold that record, going 86 matches unbeaten at Stamford Bridge between 2004 and 2008. It's a funny old game, it's a two horse race, yes I know, thoroughbred vs carthorse. I haven't got much hope, but certainly not a no hoper, we'll see what Saturday brings. Worth mentioning a Saints 2-0 win in the league cup January 2023 although that was followed by a 1-4 defeat at St Mary's in April. This our first meeting since then. Our head to head since a 0-5 defeat at home in the FA cup in 1910. Won: 33, drawn: 27 and lost: 41 https://www.11v11.com/teams/southampton/tab/opposingTeams/opposition/Manchester City/
This is not nearly as depressing as the Match Day Bin. I have almost binned off this season already. I cannot take another Leicester or Ipswich result.
Think it will be similar to the Arsenal game tbh. We’ll look alright all things considering but lose and not get hammered. City don’t hammer teams (score line) wise very often either. I’ll go for a 3-0 loss
Saturday 26 October 2024 15:00 Manchester City v Southampton Referee: Tony Harrington. Assistants: Derek Eaton, Akil Howson. Fourth official: Sam Allison. VAR: David Coote. Assistant VAR: Simon Long.
Yeah I guess being a Saints fan I wouldn’t even describe losing 4-0 to City as a hammering. Save that word for when we lose by 7+
Carnage First on MOTD If we just score I'll be celebrating For what its worth ... Ram Sug THB Bed KWP Ari Fly Mat Dib Cam Man
Any particular man or someone who normally plays? Perhaps we could choose one from the City bench. Come on down………?
I won't be paying much attention to this game TBH. A check of the score every so often and that will be it.
Same. No matter how much we lose by Martin won’t be sacked, so no interest really. Well maybe if the team completely stop playing and they reach double figures.
I'm embracing it now. **** it may as well. I'm taking the outlook that @Che’s Godlike Thighs spoke about the other week when he said we'll be like one of those Bulgarian 4th division teams who've not won in 50 odd matches and it'll become a really big deal. Think how great it'll feel when we finally win one and how mocked the opposition will be forever more.
Don't forget to chant "How sh*t must you be, we're drawing away/it's only one-nil/it's only 2-0, it's only..."
Yep, I've stupidly got tickets to this one too, not as posh as @Le Tissier's Laces mind, I'm slumming it in the peasants seats. The boy has got one of those football ground scratch map thingys so he really wanted to cross this one off. I'm fully expecting us to lose heavily, I can even see and accept a massive tonking, but I will completely and utterly lose my **** if Pep goes in to full patronising mode after the match like he did with Redmond (?) The twat will probably hold Martin’s arm aloft walking over to our fans very much like a victorious boxer, and then bigging him up in the presser. The guys a tit.
