Interesting switches at the back, Timber switches across in favour of White and Calafiori gets his first start at LB. Martinelli needs to have a decent game today touchwood he breaks his goal drought. COYG!
omg Trossard!! But again the ref's have zero consitency! If I recall midway through the 1st half a city player kicked a ball away and Gary Neville commentating mentioned he was lucky to not be carded, mentioning the Declan Rice incident a couple of weeks ago. No excuses but where the **** is the consistency!
It's stupid, but Doku did the same thing and got unpunished. It's selective refereeing. I have no issue with Trossard getting booked for it, however, you need to be consistent when you apply this rule.
Anyway, that's really unfortunate. Aside from the fact that the game had gone well over the additional time, we grew into the game and started to play well. The game's been ruined now. If we get a result form this, I'll be mightily impressed. Don't see how we keep them out with a man less on the pitch.
Can I also point out that this is the same referee who didn't send off Kovacic at The Emirates last season because 'he didn't want to ruin the game'? ****ing joke.
Kiwior on for Calafiori. Not too convinced by that sub...he hasn't played for us at all this season. This is going to be a huge ask from the Polish international.
Timber off for Lewis-Skelly for the biggest 7 mins of his life. Let's not forget he's already been booked as well for whatever he said on the touchline when he was a sub.
FT. 2-2. What an absolutely valiant performance from Arsenal considering we played City with 10 men for a whole half. We suffered so much and it's devastating to have dropped two points so late on. But I'd have taken a point before the game, I'd have ripped your hand off for a point when Trossard went off. Proud of the team. Still a good result.
Gotta be honest...thought it was gonna be closer to 10 mins. There were 6 sub breaks (30 seconds each) Raya went down and both teams had a sideline meeting, drinks etc (nearly 2 mins) There were long delays at every goal kick, free kick and throw in you had. And I remember at least 4 of your players going down with cramp.
7/9 points from Villa away, Spurs away and City away is hugely impressive. To think we were seconds away from getting 9/9 points. Ah man. So proud of the team tonight.
Gutted but so proud of the team, that would have been one monumentous win if we had seen that out! COYG
Masters of the dark arts. At least Liverpool went toe to toe with Man City and played football the right way. Arsenal are a scruffy dirty time wasting team under Arteta.
By end of gameweek 11 on 10th November, we'll only have Old Trafford and Anfield left as the traditional tough big away games left this season. Amazing that five of our first eleven games are at Villa Park, White Hart Lane, Etihad, St James Park and Stamford Bridge. Old Trafford is quite early too in March. Anfield gameweek 36 could be belter. Between the two United games (at Emirates on 3rd December and then away on 8th March), the only game that we don't definitely go in as favourites to automatically win is the City game at home in February. Every other game in those three months should be wins.
