Quiet day! So which of our current players do you think will go on to make a good manager? If any. Or any players from other clubs particularly stand out?

For me I think maybe Snoddy. Works very hard and plays with pride. Plus he is Scottish so is half way to being a prem manager

If I was to put my neck on the line and pick one from our squad I'd go russell martin. Hard working dedicated, think he reads the game well and always speaks well. I would be surprised if he didn't at least become a coach as he has a very professional manner about him.

I'd agree with that. I also think Johnson could surrprise a few in years to come.

Rusty to me just seems more and more like Drury MkII, even down to the way that whoever was signed as competition, he always seems to fight off. I could easily see him staying for several years yet, and then certainly into coaching, if not management.

Yep could defo see Johnson out thinking some of the top managers!

Agree about Martin. Maybe see him as a coach rather than a manager tho

I think big JR has the potential to out do former keeper turned manager Mike Walker!

Dave - I wasn't aware of keepers who had become managers, so yes, OBVIOUSLY my hero would be in my list as well. <cheers>

I think Howson has a chance or Hoolihan

I don't really think Hoolahan is vocal enough, suppose he is difficult to judge because he rarely speaks to the media.

I think Holty would be good myself, I don't particularly agree Johnson, as he doesn't seem the sharpest tool in the box.

Funny how some seem to be obvious from an early age e.g. Steve Bruce, Malky MacKay but others seem pretty unlikely e.g. I never saw Paul Ince or Mark Hughes as future managers

Agree that Russell Martin seems a potential candidate, and Snoddy too. Whittaker too maybe?

There's still only one black Premier League manager though (our own Chrissy Hughton). Goodness knows why that is, but something needs to be addressed before they can become more of a regularity in this country.

Not sure he ever earned the right to be called manager but Gunn did terrible damage to his club legend status during his short tenure in charge.

Agree with the Russell Martin call.

Russ and Jonny Howson are the most likely in my opinion, but i am never right about anything.

No shouts for Turner? Can definitely see it myself. Perhaps Bunn too, seems to have that calm, collected air about him

I would go for Martin, Snodgrass and possibly Howson.
