I've lifted this from Facebook - and hope the gentleman doesn't mind, but thought it was a decent summary with some interesting points: The meeting was good yesterday Russel Slade has final say in transfers he just missed out on a couple targets but keeping a close eye on them ready for January. Palace offered 7m for Lookman and Sheff Wed offered 1.7m for fox, he said the club was a mess they never had a date to return to work and he's never known nothing like it he also turned down a championship club to come to us they pay for pro zone to get all the stats on the other teams I asked about Tony Watt he wanted him to stay but he wants to be home and he said he doesn't have a bad attitude he's just lost the love for the game and rings him every other day they've set a target of 10 points for this month Credit: M Windham
Lookman £7m interesting as the Croydon Adveriser after transfer deadline day mentioned Palaces signings and those that they bid for but were unsuccessful no mention of Lookman. If true I suppose the club decided to not sell to Palace to prevent a riot
Turned down £7m for Lookman? And £1.7m for Fox?? Up until now the club has been very secretive with regards to actual figures involved in transfer fees, now suddenly they've come out with these two unlikely figures. Are you sure?
Cawley said 6 M plus add ons. They are hoping that Lookman scores some goals and provides some assists between now and January to boost his transfer fee, then they will sell him.
Cawley must have got his info from the club. If they are accurate I suppose they were released to show them in a favourable light, rather than the likes of Morrison's undisclosed fee which turned out to be a free transfer, or Naby Sarr's undisclosed fee which turned out to be £1.8m. It seems very odd to turn down £1.7m for Fox,after accepting £400,000 for Holmes-Dennis. Let's see how that one plays out.
Most striking about Slade's comments are his lack of ambition. From another site: "If we don't get promoted this year the building blocks are in place for next year" He then goes on to tip the mighty Scunthorpe for a Top 3 place and Bolton for promotion - didn't Bolton just get relegated with us? Any Charlton manager in this p1ss poor league should be reeking of ambition. David Flitcroft, Walsall's manager and Uwe Rosler all talked of us as promotion favourites in their programme notes, and yet Slade is quivering like an overweight bald jelly. FFS Man !! This is Charlton - and already you are tipping Scunthorpe to finish above us!! #NoAmbitionClub
