Gethin Jenkins has confirmed the new manager will not be appointed until next week. He says they have a large number of applications and need time to consider them all. All this according to Sky Sports News
Hope its early next week. I'm off to Portugal Tuesday and will miss all the excitement if its later. Very inconsiderate of City really!!!!!
Jenkins is playing for time, what have they got to wait for, it could turn out to be a scenario where all the good candidates get other jobs, its a case of 'I used to be indecisive' but i am not so sure anymore !! Just cannot see the point of all this dithering. Plus the Rochdale job is up for grabs !!
Lifted from the club website: Cardiff City FC Chief Executive Gethin Jenkins has today spoken of recent developments in the search for a new manager. "In line with the stature of the club today, it's no surprise that the level of interest in the position has been high," he said. "Over the last week we have held discussions with representatives of interested parties and have consulted with various football experts to get feedback on potential candidates. "We will now take the next steps towards appointing a manager who we feel can take our club forward. Our work will continue this week, from which a full announcement will be made on an appointment, which could be next week. "I'm sure all Cardiff City supporters would like an announcement made as soon as possible, but based on the importance of the decision it's imperative that we consider all factors in the best interest of our club. Until the appointment is made it would be inappropriate for us to discuss speculation or confirm whether we have met any specific candidates." http://www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10335~2372753,00.html Call me cynical, but that reads back to me as: "****, I've never had to do this before and I need help...If I **** it up, they'll publicly lynch me" Well Blatter is getting Placido Domingo involved with FIFA so its time Gethin put a call in to Jedward.
Not long mate the Missus on the way home......So off i go as i have to peel the spuds. Just like Jedward....a couple of Spud(s) pickers !!
At the risk of ruining the original thread purpose can I just say that if those 2 little ******s had been strangled at birth (or something nasty had happened to them before that) it would have been a blessing on humanity. Other than that I have no strong feelings about them. Back to the thread, come on Gethin, digitum extractum. The longer this goes on, never mind the manager, the tougher it will be to get the players we need.
Great point BFB, While the Board are sitting around with their fingers up there A**E!! Waiting for the next best thing. There are players in the transfer window being looked at and making deals with other clubs. By the time the Manager comes in, we'll be looking at the end of the month before we start re-building the team. Wouldn't expect anything less form Cardiff.....that's why I love this Football club.
I don't agree. I'd rather they take their time and get it right. and all this nonsense about the best players going while we are managerless is total bullocks. It's not the 25 July, its the 7 Jun. most players and Managers are probably still on holiday and not the slightest bit interested in talking about transfers. Besides, any player who knows he is worth anything will probably not go at the first offer, he, or his agent is more likely to hold out for a better offer, which could easily come from a good championship club with a new manager who want to get up. They are prepared to wait so why should we panic? All the best players are currently signed to Premiership clubs, and they will not be released for loan or put on the market until the Prem Managers have picked their squads for the new season, and that isn't going to happen until after our season has begun.
Xsnaggs In truth the ideal situation lies somewhere between the 2. There are some good players around now who want to get sorted for next season and then take a holiday knowing what's in front of them - Dany Graham and Brad Friedel as 2 examples - then there are others who fall into the category you describe. However, with no one at the helm now we are possibly missing out on a sniff at some useful players with the greater volume coming on stream later in July/early August. It is right that they make sure they get the right man but if they think they have him in the short term it is best not to dither, get him on board and take it from there. Of course, they could be saving a few quid by not appointing for a few weeks and not having to pay a manager's wage in that time.

xsnaggle is right, theres no point rushing through when even if we take another week to appoint it, then that gives the new manager almost 2 months until the first game of the new season. its not ideal, but come on, they only sacked jones just over a week ago so to go from no manager to a new appointment in 2 weeks is pretty good going if you ask me. we had our last manager for 6 seasons, we all want our next manager to be here that long, so people need to understand that these things take time, though the sooner the better i suppose
I dont reckon you'd make the PL with Rob Brydon let alone Jose Mourinho. Typical Cardiff fans, ego's bigger than there club. I think I speak for football fans up and down the country when I say what a wonderful annual event it is to see you get pipped to the Premiership year in year out. And this year, the biggest kick in the b*****ks - the Swans make it ahead of you. Happy Happy times. Enjoy Brighton
hmmm, Devon. That vast expanse of...basically nothing, on the way to Cornwall. Should I be shocked or not really surprised that you would be the only one take that seriously. Too much clotted cream my lovely. Still, I guess following Wycombe (who?), you don't have much else to shout about.
Wouldn't mind Brighton's manager!!! won't enjoy trip to Brighton though full of ****s and antique shops
"I don't agree. I'd rather they take their time and get it right." Snaggle you took the words out of my mouth mate I'd rather have it "done right" than "done quick" As for Devonblue, why don't you just crawl back under your stone, you think "you speak for football fans". Two things wrong with this, one you don't think. two you shouldn't be allowed to speak for yourself, never mind anyone else....................so p!ss of back to your Wycombe board you brain dead muppet.
I agree with xsnaggle too. Not only that, but do you guys think that there are certain players that certain managers can attract & entice to move clubs to? So I'm quite relaxed about it really, apart from the suspense killing me! Oh, and Sayer - Brighton has a different pub for each day of the year - I know cos I drank in most of em!
