With Mourinho sacked from Chelsea, LVG looking increasingly precarious at Utd and Guardiola leaving Bayern, there could be a manager merry-go-round in the premier league. I can't see Mourinho staying in England, he's been found out in my opinion and I don't think the big clubs will want to take a risk on him. I can see him going back to Italy or Spain. Pep has been touted as a replacement for Pelligrini at City, but with LVG looking closer to the exit door with each game, Utd could make a move for him. Then there is Arsenal. Pep has made no secret of his admiration for Arsenal and the style of football that they play. Wenger still has another year on his contract after this season, but with Pep becoming available, they might do a deal to bring him in after Wenger retires. Where do you think Pep will end up ?
Roman has tried a couple of times already to get him though and Pep has told him where to go. Any manager looking at Chelsea would have to think that it's a poisoned chalice. If you don't succeed after 6 months, then it's out the door. Pep would want time to rebuild his own squad and impart his own philosophy of attacking free flowing football, which currently is a million miles away from the style at Chelsea.
No idea....but here's my gripe with this Pep to Arsenal stuff... He is supposed to admire the football they play which is fair enough but he is also supposed to admire how arsenal are run as it fits with how he operated at Barcelona. What a pile of bollocks...Barcelona are not self sufficient like Arsenal...they get massively disproportionate tv money in Spain (along with Real Madrid) and it has long been suspected that they have been effectively state funded (Local Government buying land off them at inflated prices etc.) They are equally as **** as Real Madrid at tapping up other teams players. And I remember when they were a team of dirty cheating cloggers who played like stoke under Tony Pullis. Baa humbug
Perhaps Pep is seeking the final piece of the jigsaw: A club that play the football he admires as well as being a club that are run in a financially sound way. Completely take your point about Barca's funding though, and as for tapping up, we have been on the end of that a few times, they are ****ing shameless !
Barca were also the second highest spenders in the world (after Real Madrid) during his time there. Personally I won't believe anyone is going round and round until I see the mulberry bush.
Pep doesn't suit Chelski at all, plus with his personality, can't see him getting on with Abrahomiv who is a control freak, it will be the two Manchester's most likely, with United favourites I think.
Guardiola to Arsenal? You need to leave the crack pipe alone. He'll be off to Man City in the summer and I suspect Mourinho will be at OT should LVG leave.
I think Pep has already agreed a deal to go to City. Pellegrini must feel like a right plum but then he was lucky to keep his job for this season anyway! The press seem convinced that Mourinho is set for Manchester United. Whilst I'd be delighted to see the back of LVG the thought of Mourinho as Manchester United manager causes me a lot of concern! It is his dream job though.
I just can't see Utd taking the risk on Mourinho though, they've already had two largely failed managerial projects (although I think Moyes should have been given more time) and everybody knows that Mourinho is always one step away from a full tilt implosion. Also, Utd fans are crying out for a return to exciting and attacking football. They wouldn't get that under Mourinho, especially given that he would be ultra conservative and try to grind out results to ensure he didn't lose games. If I were on the board at Utd, knowing that Guardiola is leaving Bayern, I would be going all out to try and get him to sign instead of with City.
Tbf Mourinho demonstrated at Real Madrid that with the right club he can balance a good defence with an expansive attacking style. What worries me about Mourinho is the circus that comes with him and whether it will all once again become about him rather than the club. He is his own worst enemy sometimes.
My own opinion is we're a RW and CF away from being a very good attacking side. Neither are immediate concerns for this season either so that should be addressed in the summer. Whether Mourinho thinks that I dont know tbh. I'd have to go back and see who he bought at RM, but I think he would, by and large, have to work with what he's given initially at United.
No manager would need to spend a lot. We're missing a right winger and another striker, that's pretty much it which is why it's frustrating watching the team play such negative football. Martial is going to be a very good player, some of the skill, strength and awareness he's shown is already top class. Depay is playing with zero confidence thanks to the manager. Herrera rarely plays at all thanks to injuries and the manager. I think he's a gem which will, sadly, become evident when he joins one of the top Spanish teams. The foundations are there, the problem is the current manager is a coward.
Yeh I would agree with Stan completely. I will also add that despite Rooney's best days in a United shirt clearly being behind him, the current manager has made his decline even more rapid. I wouldnt be surprised if Rooney finds some form and plays better under Jose.
