So how will the latest set of appointments influence the fortunes of those clubs? Will it help or hinder us in our quest for the top flight.

Mick McCarthy (doh, another MM) steps in at Ipswich. I wonder how he'll get on with Chopra? A good manager at this level who can improve a team without signing new players. A log way to go but a long way behind. By the time their heading in the right direction, it could be too late for them to fight it out at the top. An improved Ipswich could take points off our rivals and assist us though with us already having 3 points from our trip to the tractor boys.

After saying no manager with the right credentials would be silly enough to take the position, Henning Berg takes over at Blackburn. So what is he saying about himself? Not sure of his credentials myself as he only seems to have managed in Norway. Blackburn aren't doing too shabily at the moment so the change in manager is as likely to do more harm than good in the short term if he starts chaning things that are working.

Dyche in at Burley could be positive for them. He did a good job at Watford and was treated harshly. Will be out to prove a point and should improve their fortunes.

Douggie Freedman in at an underperforming Bolton who we'll be hoping to take 3 points off on Saturday. He's already approached Palace for Lennie Lawrence and Curtis Flemming to add to his backroom staff.

Palace still without a manager but riding high. Could a new manager yet to be appointed dent Palace's push at the top?

Interesting that, so far, apart from Bolton taking Dougie (we're not f*****g scared) from Palace all the other appointments have been managers who have been "resting".

Could this mean that, at last, there is a realisation amongst club owners that they cannot afford to make silly severance payments to clubs to nick already employed managers? Or does it mean that Championship clubs (Bolton excepted with their parachute payments) are basically skint?

Unfortunately the same is unlikely to apply when Prem clubs sack their managers and come hunting for good quality lower division managers.

P.S. I wonder if Palace will formally appoint Lennie and Fleming as their preferred management team as they have refused Bolton permission to talk to them? Or are they just waiting for Bolton to make a suitable financial bid as they did for Dougie?

Maybe stalling tactics until they can get their man in.

Lennie seems highly regarded a a number 2 these days, especially as a mentor to younger managers. He is a solid football man who knows his way round.

It has to be unsettling for all concerned though. Hopefully to our advantage.

I wonder if DF is ****ing scared as to what he's going to face on Saturday.
