Haven't seen the game yet on Player, so I'm taking a chance posting this. Listened to the game yesterday and thought the introduction of Helguson was the wrong decision. OK, it was a heavy pitch and Gerrard and Co were giving it large on our smaller guys up front, but I'd have brought on a tricky player with some pace to turn them, not a warhorse to fight it out with them. I'm sorry guys, but he's slow and from what I heard, brought very little to the party in terms of a goal threat. If Malky had to bring off Kimbo to change things at half time, Mason or Noone would have been my choice and we could have taken all three points - I viewed Heguson's introduction as the "safe" bet. Am I never satisfied or just playing devil's advocate?
Doesn't anybody want to talk about our team and it's manager's decisions? Just watched the game on player and I haven't changed my opinion in my first post.
Feeling lonely Sparkey? He seems to have got most decisions right, so if he made a mistake here, I forgive him. I agree though, that HH and Rudy's days must be numbered. Not sure either fit into the game plan we now play. It might be that MM had a slightly different plan at the start of the season which they did fit. If (when?) we go up, two strikers (target men / hold up players) and two full backs are needed. We could probably get away with what we have elsewhere.
Aye remote - plenty of time to talk about the wurzel invasion (and massacre ) in the coming week. We need to reflect on yesterday's game plan and how Malky got it wrong......... Helguson should be benched permanently - in fact, if Turner had been fit, both him and Rudy may need to sit in the stands. Given the starting lineup yesterday, my "bench seven" would have been: - Lewis, Nugent, Cowie, Noone, Mason, Campbell and Ralls.
IMO Velikonja would have been a good shout to go on with 20 mins to go, So have to agree about Malky using the safe option
..............and STILL nobody wants to talk about our team, just with those wurzel guys - I give up!! I'm off for my evening meal and a bottle or two of Terres de galets in disgust.
I was surprised that HH came on so early, I thought that Kim was one of our better players in the first half. I'm not sure that Bellers & Smith playing in the middle is right either. But 11 points clear, so Malky is doing something right.
Maybe. Also maybe Malky has just got lucky with the 1 goal margin wins he's managed to get away with?
Difficult to criticise when we are 11 points clear. We havent been playing well but we get the results. Whitts needs to get back in form. Id have brought Mason on though.
Spark! I swear this is a wind up. I think Noone and Mason are both due a game but not on a cabbage patch. The Udders were more focussed on parking the bus and were hard to break down.Better to show off their true abilities on a decent home surface.
Bobby - Moi................ Mason or Noone could have won the game - Helguson was sent on to save it. It's good to talk.
Why not? Anyway don't worry, you haven't missed any stepovers and mesmerising dribbling from Helguson. The one attempt he had he hit the keeper when it was easier to score. Good job he was offside.
Fingers crossed for some changes at home to utilise the better playing surface. A few pitches are cutting up badly. Blackpool's looked worse on the weekend than when we played them. Noone and Conway out wide with Campbell coming on with 30 to go (He'll be playing a full half soon and starting shortly after, followed by Kimbo and Mason. At least with the goals coming from all over and options available we'll see it through to the end with relatively fresh players. Not sure how Leicester will fare if Woods is out for a while.
That's m'boy remote. Leave Helguson out of the equation instead of shoving him on as our only option up front. We have too many other ways of winning games. Interesting thing about Leicester and Woods is that when our top scorer doesn't play, we can still win - without Woods, Leicester appear to be fcked.
None of our "Top" scorers are into double figures, so it doesn't matter if one of them is missing for a game, as any one of the team can and do score. (Except Marshall!)
I do agree with Sparkey on the whole. I did say earlier in the season after about 10 games in that MM would bore us all the way to the premiership, which in my view he is doing a pretty good job of doing, i got lambasted when is suggested that football was an entertainment industry ! Lets be honest about things here, we are a good solid outfit that do not let many in anymore, up front we are lacking, we get no penalties, thats because we have nobody attacking the box. Whitts is playing out of position hence him not scoring much. On the other hand i hope i am prooved wrong this saturday and the following tuesday when we put 3 past the Wurzels and another 3 past the Pink Pussycats on Tuesday week.
