    Strange but true....

Why single out Dorian Dervite for a new contract offer when Harms and Morrow are more urgent?...... well it seems that Reading (if they are still in the Championship next season) and another Champ club?? Weeds? were ...... according to his agent.... sniffing about so we have been forced into an offer..... there is a policy of not making offers until we know which league we will be in next season unless the player has an agent with a modicum of street smarts.

The Cock..... it seems he only turns up at training when he wants.... he was surprised to be told to come over to Charlton because he has already told SL that he will be going to Spain in the summer and not just for a holiday! He has very little interest in playing any role for Charlton this season.

    <cheers>

I wonder whether other players have been made low offers, but it's not worth their while signing them? Only guessing, but the loss of over £7m. last year must have something to do with it.

So Harms is being chased by Leicester as their No. 2 in the Prem..... that will be on far too much money for us, so he will be gone in the summer.

Morgan Fox is in talks with the Club about a new contract, I guess Notts County have been in touch with his agent about his future and once again the Club have been forced to act.....

...... I do wish we could be more pro-active and start talking to players before other clubs get involved.

Yes Billy, all clubs are hoping to reduce their staff budget with FFP..... perhaps we could start with Murray's wages and perhaps one or two members of our ****e website team?

Considering the way the club's been fecking around with the contracts it's amazing the spirit they're playing with, which I believe will keep us up. I'm not worried about losing Hamer, Pope's better and should get the number one jersey next season. Gomez will be one of our CB's next season (assuming he signs a contract), Lennon has already played for the first team and Thomas is coming along quite nicely too, so no doubt this will be taken into consideration. What other Academy products do you think could break through next season?
I'd say that if Poyet goes we might see Holmes-Dennis at some point but Edwards and Ahearne-Grant are not ready yet.

Let us not forget, when criticising the current owners and contracts, who is really to blame for the Contract situation and non strengthening of the squad in the Summer and that was the chuckle brothers. They have let over twenty players contracts run out in the Summer. When Roland took over he was faced with a difficult decision, the pitch needed investment, decisions needed making who was going to get a new contract and who wasn't. FFP needed to be adhered to. We made a loss of 7.4 M this needed to be reduced a lot. To enable us to get Cat A status which is absolutely vital a lot of money needed to be spent on the Training Ground, which is costing Approximately 5 Million.3 Million from the Community Trust and 2 M of the owners own money.
Players like Dervite, Hamer and Morrison are maybe waiting to see what division we will be playing in and what other offers they have on the table.

Goes back even further than that, Dickp. S&J took over a sinking ship, saved us from administration, and did some very good things, like bringing Paul Hart and Nathan Jones in and starting up the U-21's, and getting us promoted. OK it went sour and they left us facing administration again, but the £7.4m. loss would have been even greater if they had spent the sort of money most fans wanted them to.

We also had a manager at the time more concerned with playing to the gallery than watching the talent under his nose in the U18s and U21s

I'd love to know what the players thought about all that.

Yes I agree with that and I have said in the past that I thank them for backing Powell in the transfer market and keeping the Club going.

The players who seem to be progressing well in the Academy and will be ready for the first team soon are Gomez and Holmes-Dennis. Lennon and Fox could do a job in the first team. One of the players not quite ready but is an excellent goalscorer is Ahearne-Grant. I also like Terell Thomas who is a centre half but he played in the last U18 game as a defensive midfielder. I also like Mikhael Kennedy who plays up front, he has got a lot of natural ability.

RD was here last week to speak to several players. But agree in regards to the non pro active approach. We could have had Poyet dealt with in February..

Poyet has had two contract offers. It is not the managements fault that he hasn't signed. Dervite has had a concrete offer but has not signed and is still in discussions. Let us not just assume that the reason they have not signed is because they have not had offers, because that is not the case.

It's not an assumption. KM had verbals with Diego back when. Now he's apparently about to sign for a sports agency, and when that happens it's bye bye me thinks.

OK, there are probably no more youngsters ready for a relegation dogfight but it is a unfair on Chris Powell to say he ignored our youngsters.
