June 23, 2011, 11:05 pm Sunderland's signing spree is set to continue. The Black Cats landed Bosman pair Sebastian Larsson (Birmingham City) and Keiren Westwood (Coventry City) yesterday. And The Journal says Manchester United trio Wes Brown, Darron Gibson and John O'Shea are happy with the financial packages on offer should they agree to sign for the Black Cats. Although Sunderland chairman Niall Quinn and manager Steve Bruce have not spoken to the players directly, they have thrashed out personal terms with their representatives, which is a significant breakthrough. Well 3 champions leauge quality players cant be bad for 12 mil come on my lads

I tell you what like, Wes Brown is on 70k a week at man u, so we must be pushing the boat out to sign these lads. Hopefully more quality will follow should these boys sign.
Ok so if we get these guys in, we better sign a left back, left winger & striker as these are priority but I also would like Brucey to take as much time as possible as these positions will define our season if the signings are right
Fair comment, we are paying £12 million for 3 players who might only contribute anymore than 5 goals between then all season, although 2 are defenders but they too are on the decline because of their age. I would take Oshea & Gibson but I just cant see the point in Brown as well.
Brown will give us well needed experience and grit, something our squad was severely lacking in the Spring as we capitulated and had no one to man up. Even the Mags have Nolan for this role....oh, no wait.....
Brown when fit is a good solid player and someone who will improve our team with his experience to move on (Anyone remember Steve Bold?) OShea is a quality player who's versatility is an asset to any team SAF dosn't get it too wrong, he is also still an international so he obviously has alot to offer. Gibson is the one I would really like to see, with games under his belt I think he could be a legend as he shows glimpses of how good he is but really isn't getting a chance at utd. All in all the three would imporve our team and help us move onwards and upwards. This talk of champions league players is a nonesense as we are looking at best for a top 8 finish with anything better being a bonus.
