i watched the game last night and apart from rooneys wonder goal, man utd were outplayed by a leaner fitter much more experienced players. giggs looked a worn out wreck and no subs made any difference. sir alex if he is still up for the job, will need 250 million in his back pocket to compete.
i fully expect barca to be in the final next season and win it. the key to their success was that 8 of their players came through from their youth team. no bunch of prima donnas can hope to compete. well played barca

With a full season of GT's tuition behind him, the donkey will return a stallion. It is rumoured that Wigglesworth are after Jake Robinson.

After last year's fiasco Joma might have scrapped it. The Wikipedia link leads to nowhere.

'It's a far cry from small boys in the park, jumpers for goalposts. Isn't it? Mmmmm. Marvellous.' Ron Manager, Fast Show

The Devon Tournament could have been great, but there were too many teams playing over too short a time period. Loads of injuries caused teams to drop out.

Man U were simply played off the park by a team that made them look like a Sunday League side. Barca were more or less unplayable.

WhatShrew, it was certainly a masterclass in how the game is meant to be played.

if barca was an example of 8 first team coming through from the youth squad, let us hope uncle graham brings on our youth and gives town the barca touch. floreat salopia

There has been comments on Match of the Day, Talksport and in some of the broadsheet newspaper sports columns that Barcelona and Shrewsbury Town play a very similar level of quality football. <whistle>

Manchester United were poor in comparison. Use of the long ball was all too prevalent. Don't forget that up till then the Mancs hadn't been beaten but Barca had been by a footballing team-Arsenal.

By the way Shrewsbury are about to sign Ashley Grimes and Matt Sadler permanently.

Kasule if that's right that's absolutely fantastic news. Sadler is as we know him and what I have seen of Grimes' stats will make our midfield/forward area's creativity improve 10 fold.

I felt embarrassed for Man U fans. It was an exhibition. Man U players ran their hearts out chasing the ball while Barca nonchalantly passed it around to each other until they decided to take a pop at goal. i don't think any team could have beaten them that night. My son is a fanatical Man U fan. Haven't heard from him since the game. I think he's still suffering from shock and I haven't got the heart to ring him up just yet.
