With Mids like Anderson, Fletcher, Carrick, Cleverly, Pogba, Giggs (for rest of this season), Morrison, Park, Gibson, + Rooney (as of now in Scholes postion).

Do you think that wereally should have 1) invested in a proven midfield powerhouse?...

    2) Fergie obviously isnt didhing out the hairdrier treatment and should do?....

or 3) (MY FAVORITE) Fergie to dish out the hairdrier then to promptly tell one player he will not play for the club again before he is sold as soon as possible. (this should have an effect like the ince, kanchelskis exodus, / more recently beckham departure)?

We should be playing 3 in midfield because when we play 2 we get over run way too often.

The younger players like Cleverley/Pogba etc should get more games to help them develop mentally.

I do suspect that the hairdryer hasn't been hung up just yet but we can't know for sure without being in the dressing room. He is bound to have been furious about a few performances and he would have let the players know.

Anderson just needs more consistency as he has had some very good performances and Carrick is a good player to have in the squad.

As for potential signings, I would prefer to see a Schweinsteiger (spelling?) type player come in.

It's not the fact we play 2, it's who is in the two.

When Carrick and Anderson played together, or Carrick and Giggs towards the last few months of last season, we played our best football. Some of our best football came against Chelsea in the league game at OT and the CL quarter final, what was the common denominator in those midfields? Carrick + a ball carrying midfielder i.e. someone who gets on the ball, turns and runs towards the midfield and it was Giggs and Anderson and also Park as well.

Cleverley can be the ball carrying midfielder, he is comfortable with the ball at his feet and in tight spaces in around the opposition penalty box. With Anderson, great, even more attacking threat but sometimes we are too open. I said this after the CS win, Anderson had the brains to just drop a bit deeper to allow Cleverley to play further up the pitch, but the proviso on that was this works well when we have sustained possesion on the ball. How did we score against Everton? We had sustained pressure up the pitch, Cleverley played the ball that unlocked their defence to Welbeck, Evra in space, great cross, 1-0.

This isn't the first time I've said this, what we need is a Michael Carrick that is more mobile. He has all the right attributes to be a top class DM, he is big, strong, ridiculously able with the ball at his feet but he just doesn't use those 2 first attributes enough. He doesn't put himself about and he needs to dicate games more with his passing and shooting ability. But, he isn't going to become Makelele in terms of work rate so I think we should be looking for a midfielder that is Carrick-esque with the ability on the ball, can sit deep and is strong and mobile. And from what I've seen so far of him, I think Javi Martinez could be an option. He has cracking ability on the ball, just sits and knocks the ball about all day but unlike most Spanish midfielders he is powerful, 6" 3' I believe and I think we have been linked with him in the past.
