If any club thinks they can get Perez for £8m then they are deluded.

I'd say we could get £15m here for the lad.

Remember what other young lads have gone for... eg Chambers etc.....

Manchester United will reportedly bid for Newcastle United youngster Ayoze Perez at the end of the season.

Perez has been the subject of intense speculation regarding his future in recent weeks, with Magpies bossJohn Carver even claiming that Manchester City are keen on a deal for the midfielder.

However, Fichajes.net claims that the Red Devils will firm up their interest in the player by making a bid this summer.

It is thought that Arsenal also remain keen on the 21-year-old, who cost the Toon Army around £1.5m before the start of the season.

However, United are believed to be in pole position for Perez, with a figure of £8m mooted for any transfer.

8m would be a snip in many way buts its about right in todays market in my opinion. He has done well but looking at it from a neutral perspective, I can't see the justification for much more than that. 15m -they'd have to accept that of course and from a Toon perspective, i think that is about right. Reality it doesn't matter if its 8m or 15m as it won't be reinvested fully. Indeed we'll be simply looking for the next bargain we can turn into healthy profit.

Some will say that is no bad thing. Personally I'd prefer to see a transfer strategy which at least has some sort of theory in helping the footballing side of things. i.e. if a coach wanted to play a certain way, we buy players to fit that to give yourselves the best possible chance of success. If it is not the coach ethos and rather a club ethos, then that is fine too. Ours is neither of those things though, its about money. The lack of synergy with a footballing policy is where I think its all coming unstuck every season. Not that our board care of course.

Sitting on their bench would ruin his career, but I wouldn't put it past Ashley to sell him for far less than we think Perez is worth.

Haha! I reckon overall we got our money back on him! Still unsure as to what happened there and who instigated what! I assume the staff rate Dummett and Haidara on a par with him <laugh>

Only worth what another club will pay, so we better hope more than Man U want him, or £8m or less it is.
Maybe they could give us another one of their no-marks in return.

If its not beneficial, who's to say we'll sell in any case.

Scary. We paid as much for Haidara as we recrived for Santon FFS! Who says Mike is a shrewd businessman?
