<laugh> how magnanimous of them ...

    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/manchester-united-news-transfer-rumours-6835117

... I've been on the blower to Barca and told them we are willing to do a double swoop for Neymar and Messi for a combined £20 m should we get the money for Vards ...

... they were outraged ... told me that we would get double that for Vards ....

... I now have serious doubts that any of the transfers mentioned above will happen unless the sums involved are significantly increased <laugh>

Obviously if Man U had their own player in this scoring form they'd be outraged if anyone offered less than £40 mill but because it's little Leicester it's ok to rip their prized asset away for peanuts!

He'd be stupid to go there. Van Gaal's happy to play a fat lump like Rooney alone up top and stick a far more effective number 9 (Martial) out wide. Who does that remind you of?

I think alot of people are looking at this price due to his age, but theres no way we'd sell Vardy for £15m, hes worth far more than that to us in premier league revenue and we won't be able to get anyone anywhere near as good for £15m.

On his current form, i'd be dissapointed in anything less than £25m, he might be worth £15m at the end of the season if he slumps, but at the moment, hes too valuable to lose.

Spot on mate ... his 'value' is what he is worth to us and our season ... for me (and hopefully the owners) that would make him absolutely not for sale at this point in time ... come in for him in the summer and offer £2m per premiership goal scored this season and we might talk ... otherwise jog on van Ghoul jog on <grr>

United have a little history of this type of purchase - it has a twofold aim - firstly they get a good player in goalscoring form - secondly it makes the Champion's League contest simpler because it tends to demolish the 'upstart' club's current form and any chance of a maintaining that through to a shock finishing position ..

Louis Saha at Fulham is the prime example ... he was on fire - United bought him - Fulham descended the table ...

Wow, how times have changed at LCFC.
Years ago IF we had a ´top´ player the price would of been, maybe, 3 mil & if a team offered that we (the fans) would of said yes, we need the money & bit their hands off. Now they are talking about 15 mil & we (the fans) are saying **** off we need the player not the money.

I'll admit that if we could have made a profit on him while we were still in the championship i would have taken it, i just hope he can keep up a good ratio of goals per game once this streak finishes. His workrate deserves a 1 in 3 ratio at least.

Exactly, I can imagine that he might only be worth that to the buying team but he's worth so much more to us so if there's a huge difference in values, simple he stays

Its worth considering that (based on last years final position payouts) his goals this season could propel us to a much better finishing position and get us another 7+ million in prize money, so why would we sell to finish lower and receive a worse cut of the premier league pie? Isn't this year the start of the even bigger payments too?

How very kind of them £15M for him.

With such a kind and generous offer we will very politely have to tell them to stick the offer where the sun doesn't shine

Tbf, they did buy Van Persie for not much more than that- he'd just come off a brilliant goal-scoring season and was around the same age.

This is the reason that we shouldn't be looking at anything under £25m when you take inflation and contract length into account.

I'll grant that RVP was at a higher level for alot longer at Arsenal and would prove a much smaller risk.

I'd disagree Wizard - RVP was much more of a risk IMHO - United would have been aware that in eleven seasons with Arsenal RVP only managed to make more than 30 PL appearances in one of them! ... more than 25 appearances only 3 times ... a much riskier investment than the seemingly indestructible Vardy I'd say ...
