The worst example of stewards I've ever seen. They must have thrown 6 people out around me and there was no sign of ANY trouble, they were thrown out for standing up, whilst the Man U fans the other sides of the barrier were constantly standing. One particular steward was 'looking' for victims to be thrown out. Did anybody else witness it?
Disgraceful stewards and police were just as bad. It seemed to be completely random I didnt see anyone getting warnings. Maybe they just weren't used to hearing fans sing at a match and didn't know how to react. For a side closing in a title the United fans were appalling. Leaving the ground was like a funeral march.
All too typical at some grounds where there is blatantly different treatment of home and away fans Particularly ironic given that most away fans (though at a few grounds I could mention, not all ) have both travelled much further to watch the match AND paid more than most home fans
In fairness to the stewards, not all of them were dicks yesterday. The ones near me were from London and we had no problems with them. However the ones from Manchester were just looking for trouble. They were so shocked that people were making noise at OT and especially that part of the ground was still full after 85 mins, that they acted the only their small minds which caused them to fail the police exam could, by lashing out and throwing people out for making noise or god-forbid standing up
You've not seen stewards until you go to Torquay. They're all nightclub bouncer, George Elokobi lookalikes that started throwing punches at a bloke for taking pictures of the game. The match I was at had about 200 away fans to start and 30 got kicked out in the first half an hour after a five hour drive. Good fish though.
They probably heard the southern accent and got confused thinking Man utd fans in with away fans!!!!!
In defence of the police the guy beside me said he had complained to the police about the stewards at half time and the officer had said himself how poor they were. In fact, they arrested a steward at half time for overly aggressive behaviour! Can you believe it!
I saw the same at Bolton - QPR fans being thrown out for singing it seemed. But to be honest they must be used to away fans making the most noise at OT - seems to me like they do at about every game there! Did you see Man U get bilbowelled at OT? They were on both the park and the terrraces!
I hate Old Trafford. Not a proper football ground, not proper football fans, not a proper football club. Spurs stewards are the worst though, holding us all back for almost 15 minutes for no apparent reason (and grinning) so we missed their goal.
