For years Liverpool has not witnessed a derby like that of yesterday at Goodison Park. As a Liverpool supporter I give to credit Romelu Lukaku, not because of yesterday alone , last season at West Brom he made life difficult for Liverpool. Without him yesterday I am not sure if Everton are going to score three goals I therefore make him my man of the match. If Lverpool had won the match I would have made Simon Mignolet our goal keeper my man of the match. Man of the match: 1.Luis Suarez, 2.Romelu Lukaku 3.Others...your choice?
could so easily have been either keeper if one team had won with the amount of vital saves both had made, as it was a draw with Lukaku scoring 2 goals, obvious and deserved choice for me.
It's too easy to just pick the goalscorers; most commentators do because it's the easy pick, even if they do nothing else during the game. They're there to score goals, it's their job. Suarez worked far more than Lukaku did and contributed more to the team in build up. For me, I was most impressed with young Flanno. Not played much, thrust in at left back (not even his position) and I thought played really well after a shaky 10 minutes. Failing that, Migs had a blinder despite the 3 conceded, which weren't down to him either.
I don't think either had particularly good games despite their goals I'd agree that young Flanagan was worth a shout but Mignolet made some top quality saves at crucial times (the twat)
They are close, but Lukaku has the great benefit of standing out among lesser candidates. Suarez, Sturridge and Coutinho could all be our star player. Adide from Lukaku, the remianing Everton players only stand out for their anti-football (Mirallas, Barry...) behaviour.
Neither, Mignolet was head and shoulders above both. I didn't actually think Suarez was particularly great?
Migs would have got it if we won by a goal or two. For me though it was migs. Flanno did well and was impressed with him, but I dont think he had the best individual performance. He did play above all expectations but that does not qualify you for a motm award.
Positive that he had an off day after travelling thousands of miles only a few days before but still manages to score beauties like his free kick yesterday
Was nice that a few others stepped up and put in a decent performance to compensate. I don't think he played badly, just no where near the best player on the pitch
I haven't seen all of the game yet so dunno what he was like work rate wise but it's nice we now have other options to come in offer something different. Coutinho, Sturridge, Gerrard and Moses all offer something different to what Suarez does, hopefully as a result of this we'll win the games we should we winning (so far so good) Want to improve the midfield in January and a top attacking player wouldn't go a miss, seeing as Moses is only on loan and IMO isn't top 4 quality.
Obviously, Messi and C.Ronaldo are in there but I'll let you decide which of them is second and third. Neymar is clearly number one
One man and one man only - Mignolet. He made some top quality saves today and they weren't just from half chances - Everton created a number of clear cut chances which they should have buried. What a performance by him and he has won/saved us a lot of points this season.
