I voted for Richard Dunne. Didn't put a foot wrong all afternoon. Green didn't have one single shot to save and all the defenders (and the whole team) take credit for that.
I was going to write exactly the same thing. I too looked at the clock when he did that. Barton was also targeted again, he didn't react once.
I think we need a box that says "I wasn't there, haven't seen the highlights and therefore don't feel qualified to vote".... or words to that effect.
Barton again for me...Midfield genius...controlled it all, a calm presence (did I say calm)...played very well. Special note for Carroll...he did all the donkey work, always coming back to pick the ball up from the back...that is why a few balls went awry...because he is doing so much work....He is Joeys gopher....and allows Joey to command the midfield...those two need to play together and with Kranky coming into form .... a beautiful midfield triangle...love it
Barton for me and edged out Dunn and Carroll. Despite Barnsley trying to wind him up he stayed focused and took command. I agree with ETH that young Carroll did the donkey work and never stopped chasing.
Didn't see the game so can't comment. However, the Irish version of the Sunday Times gave MOTM to Dunne. Would be interesting to know in the English version of the paper gave Dunne the vote too. Anyone have the paper at hand?
West London Sport gave it to Austin. http://www.westlondonsport.com/features-comment/qpr-v-barnsley-player-ratings QPR v Barnsley player ratings Rob Green of QPR 06/10/2013 By David McIntyre Charlie Austin’s second-half goals secured another win for QPR, whose eighth consecutive clean sheet set a new club record. Here’s how we rated the players in their 2-0 victory against Barnsley. Rob Green: 6 Made Rangers history with yet another shut-out. Was barely troubled, but organised his back four well enough and tipped over a rare effort on his goal. Danny Simpson: 7 Another busy performance on the right-hand side. Solid defensively and always willing to get forward. Richard Dunne: 7 Impressive again and was unlucky not to score with a first-half header which was cleared off the line. Rangers are still yet to concede a goal with him in the team. Clint Hill: 6 Didn’t exactly have his hands full but did his job calmly and effectively. Benoit Assou-Ekotto: 7 Untroubled defensively so was able to get forward almost at will. Did exactly that and nearly created a goal in the first half. Gary O’Neil: 6 Drifted out of the game at times but got through his fair share of work on the right and caused Barnsley the odd problem when he drifted inside. Joey Barton of QPR Barton did well again in midfield. Joey Barton: 7 Helped to drive Rangers on when they were looking for the all-important opening goal and took control of the midfield once they were in front. Another good display. Tom Carroll: 7 Talented player who is still learning and has problems in some types of Championship matches, but not one-sided ones like this when Rangers are dominant and he has ample time on the ball. Alejandro Faurlin: 7 Another player who has benefited from Rangers having an additional central midfielder and the team being dominant in back-to-back home matches. Against a side with men behind the ball and no real ambition to break in behind Faurlin, he can comfortably do what he wants. Needed the last couple of matches to rebuild his confidence. Niko Kranjcar: 5 Surprisingly disappointing after such a fine home debut against Middlesbrough. Adrenaline possibly got him through that match as in this one he was off the pace and looked more like a man still short of full fitness. Charlie Austin: 8 Given a whopping pay rise and a big move to London, and with things not going too well for him to begin with, there are plenty QPR players in his position in recent years who would have quickly lost their edge. But he didn’t and Austin deserves the purple patch he’s now enjoying. Was persistent when things didn’t go his way and looks full of confidence now they are. Two more goals took his tally to five in five matches. Junior Hoilett: 7 Made a real impact after coming on, creating the opening goal for Austin and giving Rangers some much-needed pace and directness on the flank.
I feel exactly the same way, plus likely ditto for many others here, since I was only able to follow the Barnsley game by way of the Bet365 live match graphics, or "the wave" - after carrying three of our early season games with live video feeds, we have been noticeably absent from the recent Bet365 match selections. At least riding the wave, the coverage (unlike BBC) is actually live (has to be where betting is involved) and you know where & what the current action on the field is, but in still a vacuum, awaiting the magic, GOAL, GOAL, GOAL!!!!!! to appear (and not for the opposition), followed by the crowd roar sound effect. When we were 2-0 up, there was a late "roar" and was worried that Rob Green had lost his 8 game shut-out record, but happily that turned one turned out to be from another game! Almost a case for signing up to QPR Player and the Dalek commentary? Well worth signing up for the Player, Kilburn. But I still feel a fraud voting if I haven't seen the game either as it happened or via a reasonably lengthy highlight sufficient to give you enough of an impression. It's a shame that the Championship can't market itself better and perhaps have one of the "testicle" channels show more live games and a MOTD-style programme. Auntie's Football League Show is god-awful, showing only marginally more of a game than Sky's evening goals report. To cover three divisions in one hour does no justice to any of them.
My iPad version of the Sunday Times gives 5+ minutes of highlights from every Premier League game (of course they and Sky are owned by the same people). Wish the ****ers would do the same for the Championship, then the Football League Show would be completely redundant.
Tough decision, Barton, Dunne, Simpson and Hill all immense. Barton edges it for me as he did not react to being kicked around. Have to say that the few Barnsley supporters pretty much put us to shame, we were subdued most of the time and the tiny Barnsley crowd really put on a great effort at cheering and singing their (generally poor) team on.
Difficult one this week. Good performances from several players, Dunne, Barton, Hill and Hoilett changed the game when he came on. Greene had nothing to do all game. I've gone for Simpson, defended well & bombed forward all game.
Personally voted for Hoilett. I know he only played 30 mins but he completely changed the game. Nobody else on our team could've made the run to set up our first and whilst we had been persistently knocking on the door, albeit tentatively, his impact proved what was a massive gulf in class between the two sides. Had he not come on who knows they might have snatched a point. Surprised by how comfortably Barton is winning this poll. Thought he played well but Id put Simpson, Hill, Dunne and Auston all above him.
Haven't voted as wasn't there and unable to decide based on 30 seconds of highlights on FLS..... Have to agree with Uber above, sat through an hour and half of tedium watching MOTD, programme was at least half an hour too long especially when there was only 5 games to show and they spent half hour talking to Woy about this weeks internationals. Could do with someting like ITV4's Bundesleige coverage on a Monday night, show an hour of Championship highlights and no bloody analysis from so called experts....
