I was thinking its a pressure free game really, so it may be quite refreshing to play a game where us winning or getting a point is not expected! what would be an acceptable result away at city ? Of course we would all love a win but i would would settle for a gutsy performance and a loss if it meant that we saw some of our combinations getting better and some of the new players standing out . On the other hand it could get ugly with the way some of our defending has been lately and a big loss could harm defensive confidence even further! Is it worth making a few changes or would that be suicide against city? edin dzeko looks like he is on fire at the moment and i fear what he could do in the air against us, this may be a game for chico to do a bit of man marking . Its possible that with a bit of pressure off the boys they go out and play a blinder, im sure there will be less fear from us than there was last time we visited, after all we did beat them last time we played them !! Whatever happens against city it will be a game where we can look at performance rather than the result, you never know what will happen in football and Laudrup does have a record of beating the giant teams with limited resources, what a point or win would do for confidence though, for both manager and players !! How do think we should approach this game? go out all guns blazing or be conserative and try to keep the score down or battle for a point ? Thoughts please !!
Hopefully this will be the game where Ash gets a grip and plays a blinder and we keep a clean sheet. I'll take a 0-0 now but cant see it happening, think they will win comfortably but we will get a goal which would be an improvement on last season!
....what should we expect? Nul points. However, I think we're close to putting in a really good performance and maybe this will be it. Man City don't seem to be firing on all cylinders yet this season.
Use our possession game to frustrate I would say. Show very little attacking intent, play the ball around in tight spaces and make them run ragged for it. We are more than capable of keeping the ball for as long as we like.. We only ever lose it when we are being ambitious with our attacks. Set up to shut up shop and hopefully hit them on the counter. Nothing wrong with playing negative in this game. We try to outplay them then I can see a mullering.
They will be out for revenge on last season and i hope our defense is rock solid because if it isn't we could be in for a right hammering....I hope the ref is number 12 and the linesmen 13 & 14 for us...
I dont see a 0-0 scoreline thats for sure, i can see us suprise them a little bit and i can see us getting a hammering , its one of those games where your head tells you it aint gonna happen but your heart, fuelled by the unpredictable premier league beleives something special could happen !! I would like to see a few big performances from the new guys, DG IMO will not start, maybe luke moore will get a chance again ??
We are Swansea city, expect the unexpected They are playing Ajax Wednesday night so it will be interesting to see who they pit they're strongest side against...I know that's little consolation as they have a bloody good squad, maybe Sinclair will be given a run out against us too. We are due a big game, and if you offered our first 0-0 in 30 games, I'd rip your arm off
Citeh are two or three goals better than us irrespective of the team they put out. I don't see us getting a sniff unless they have an off day or we really click. The beauty of football is that sort of thing happens frequently, so I'm hoping for the best. The trouble is, a shock result is often achieved on the back of some heroic defending but, as we all know, our defence is ****e. I think if we sit back we're done for, so we might as well have a right good pop at them and hope for a large slice of lady luck. Then again we just might hit all the right notes on the day and spring a genuine surprise. Fingers crossed.
I feel if we sit back - just like the last 20 odd mins against Wigan, we will get murdered. Our best form of defence is to keep the ball as far away from our defence as possible. Try and play our 'normal' game and pass them off the field.
yes this is a game where we have to play last seasons style and pass the ball in short quick passes. If we can keep the ball then they cant score. we might get a bit of luck and muchu will get one or two. Its not impossible as we proved last season and fair play to Norwich against arsenal the other day......I think dyer Routledge and Leon are a must for this game of fast triangle passing.....
Was thinking it through before posting on the prediction thread earlier....difficult one to guess. They haven't been so good so far and have been conceding regular. We have been creating a lot of chances and are due a game where we take a few of them. On the other hand, their attack is as frightening as our defence. Vorm is going to see a lot of action, let's hope he has a blinder. In the end my head concluded that there is no way those forwards aren't going to score a few against our makeshift, out of form defence....but my heart is looking forward to our boys having a right good go against them with no weight on their shoulders. We do have a chance. I think the way to play it is to go out all guns blazing, as attacking a formation as we can put out, and try to take the lead. I'd pick; ----------Vorm------------ -----Chico--Ash---------- Rangel------------Davies -------Ki---Leon--------- Dyer----Michu---Routledge --------Graham---------- (got a sneaking suspicion Graham is going to come good soon) If we score first, I'd leave it 15 minutes to see if we can hit them again...then switch to keep ball and use the subs wisely to put energy on the park where it's needed (bring Agustien on for an attacker, sub Davies for Tiendalli, bring one of Hernandez or Dyer off the bench to add pace as an outlet). If they score first God help us.
I think DG will get owned by Kompany and Lescott, for a fair size player ive never been impressed with danny's heading ability, it will be basically zero against the city boys, i wouls sooner play moore myself or keep the same team as against wigan.
Agree with N.J. on that, I'd pick Moore before DG. DG has been very poor this season, off the place, in the wrong place, and too many chances gone to waste.
We may only get one or two chances, and to be honest if we are to get anything out of the game, we will need to bury those chances that may come our way. I fancy us getting a point, but we need all the players to put in one hell of a shift, just for a point. Let's just hope yeah!!!
Its a tough one they will either turn up and play out of thier skins to give us a point or three or else.... Ever the optimist I will go with the former 2-2 or 3-2 Swans win
Cardiff city are marooned , some fool put their home kit and their away kit in the same washing machine.
