The game finishes like it starts, with a Jesus Navas goal. Erik Lamela loses the ball at the other end with some attempted showboating and James Milner hits a long, probing ball that must travel 70 yards to Navas to fire home past Hugo Lloris.

Of course with a player like that in the team you can expect anything to happen.

They swapped quality for quantity and as a result AVB has no clue what his best team is and feels obliged to pick the expensive acquisitions.

I think they overpaid for Soldado. He is decent but 20 odd million? Not for me. Lamela on the other hand will come good eventually I expect. Talented lad but the sort who will struggle with the league for a while. Their squad is a strong one, particularly in midfield. But when you have set up to play everything to Bale, he then leaves, and you introduce 7-9 new players, it doesn't matter how good they are, they don't just click. Especially when you try to negotiate the Europa.

 

I am hoping that Dinas Caerdydd put the same past Salford Rovers Return this afternoon.
