Facinating! The formality of City against the laid back Spurs. I will draw no conclusions as we all know what happened.
Goodness only knows how many people City employ on a match day just to hold doors open !! Nice to learn exactly what Freund does, he takes the team sheet into the referees room on a matchday. Thanks for that Steffan. Seriously, it was good viewing and thanks for posting it on here .
Going by some of the comments on this board, I think there's a few others who would prefer to not know who Dempsey is !!!!!!!
was he not being sarcastic? surely Joe hart knows who Clint Dempsey is! LOL at our lot just hoofing the ball at the walls in the tunnel! and what a nice "healthy" bite to eat for the players at the end!
Just started watching it, but does the Adebayor that you see there resemble the selfish twat that he's often portrayed as? He seems well thought of by the normal staff at the stadium, which is either amazing image consciesness, which I doubt or the sign of a respectful individual. Him, Toure, Mancini and Kompany each take the time to say hello to the security staff and virtually everyone else acts like they're not there. The doors may as well be propped open with a bit of wood, as far as some of them are concerned. Hart's happy reaction to Defoe's omission tells it's own story. If the opposition are pleased about the side that you've picked, then you've picked the wrong side. Villas-Boas got a very positive reaction from a number of City's players. Nice to see him getting respect from people he's worked with. He might be a bit of a Marmite manager, as some people seem to love him and it's clear that others really don't like him one bit. Scott Sinclair and Gylfi Sigurdsson in the tunnel at half-time: "I've got no chance of getting on, mate. You?" "Nah, don't be silly!" Interesting insight, PPLF. Cheers for posting this.
You only have to remember the work he is doing in his own country to scotch that slander. Nothing but a nice guy IMO who lives and plays with a smile on his face for the world.
A mate of mine told me that he was being bashed on the radio (I assume TalkShite) the other night for his lack of application in the City game, too. I have no idea what the hell they were watching, but it certainly wasn't the same match as me.
Not watched it all but got a glimpse of the food. Holy Christ - it looks like the offerings of a particularly low-effort kids' party. That's what multimillionaires get fed by Arab billionaires?! Yellow stuff?!
great post PNP Ade does seem like a nice bloke, I agree. I was also watching every player too. some of them just about managed to break a smile. but the likes of Gareth Barry who is English (like the door staff i expect) should be setting an example by chatting and showing some appreciation and respect towards them. it's just common courtesy and manners to say thank you when someone opens a door for you. Instead he just walks past, with a look on his face like "Look at me, I'm Gareth Barry". - yeah mate, the most overrated player who's somehow managed to get into a team full of the world's best talent. Thought exactly the same to Joe Hart's reaction over Defoe. the "who" to Dempsey, whether sarcastic or not... well... it speaks for itself really. and us lot, too!! where abouts is the gylfie and sinclair part? - again, doesn't look good that Sig is making comments like that so soon into the season. haha my initial reaction was that of "school dinners"!!
Sorry Roo, I was joking! They come down the tunnel together during half-time having a chat, but you can't make out what's being said. Old mates from Swansea. I'm not sure Hart actually says, "Who's Dempsey?", by the way. Having watched it again, I think he asks, "Where's Dempsey?", as in what position is he in. Having seen Adebayor on the team sheet and having assumed Defoe's in the line-up, he's puzzled as to where he's going to be utilised. The follow up of, "Is Defoe not playing?", would suggest this, too.
One thing that struck me was the relaxed togetherness of the Spurs squad which belies all the AVB creates bad feeling stuff. City by comparison looked uptight. Advantage Spurs at the start of the game, which was lost in the second half as the City 'ego's' decided to earn their gold plated crusts.
The obvious conclusion is that wearing an ugly suit, the same ugly suit, in fact, makes you play better. I'm glad the team I pull for has the style I like, even if it didn't translate into success in this game. Ade really does stand out for having a smile and a handshake for everyone. (though I didn't watch the whole video). Class. I don't know why anyone would criticize him that game. His dribbling and Sandro/s all around effort (plus Hudd's center and Caulker's header) were about the only Spurs highlights.
