From the sounds of it we are being penned back so far, sounds ominous hoping we don't get stuffed today.
Sounds as though we were well organised defensively so it's rather a shame that we lost. At least we did not get hammered. Great results for Sunderland and Cardiff and Fulham were pegged back so todays loss is not too damaging. With Hull and West Ham on form at the moment we are still in the relegation mix but with performances like today we will hopefully be OK
We defended well for the most part, but weren't able to hold out. I know it sounds like sour grapes, but I think we we're let down by another poor referee. After Kompany's early yellow, he continued to foul and could/should have gone. Fernandinho took out Odemwingie who would have been clean through and only received a yellow. More favouritism for the big team? I've just watched Charlie Nicholas' summary for Sky and he reckons they could both have been sent off too. Interesting that the BBC didn't show any of it. Considering there were over 47,000 at the game, for the vast majority of the 90 minutes, the Man City fans were very quiet. All the noise was coming from us Stokies who were in good voice throughout, especially in our piss taking of Joe Hart.
A lot of teams have come away from Citeh with much worse results than that at least our goal diff didn't take another battering.
I'm beginning to think that bringing on defensive substitutes late in the game is not good for us. Yesterdays goal against us was shortly after Wilson Palacios came on.
Dunnet..that is a very astute observation. It MUST change the shape of the team until that point was operating successfully. In Hughes a lot of deluded people trust.
Afternoon guys I've not posted for quite some time but.... I did get to the game on Saturday and we played really well. Agreed Nicky that bringing Palacios on was a bad move. I'm sure Arnie was injured and that's why Hughes took him off! We play that WELL for the rest of the season, I'm sure we will be fine. I'm not sure what other options MH had. Next Saturday ARSENAL.. bring it ON!
Good to hear you got to the Etihad on Saturday Potts! I thought for the goal Adam, who was tracking Toure just let him stroll into the area. For me that was poor poor defending! Anyway by all accounts a great effort, so plenty of positives to build on. It was interesting to see that Matty Ethrington come on as I feel he may have a role to play if Assaidi is ruled our for a number of weeks.
