If MM decides to leave it's no big deal. We are going into uncharted waters and whoever the manager a job still needs to be done. If MM is still with us (and I hope he is) fair enough, if not then there are some quality managers out there who can replace him. No man is bigger than the club irrespective of what they have achieved whilst here. MM will now have his loyalty and ambition tested should an approach be made by Everton. He has always maintained his desire to manage a top level team with ambition, I'm not sure Everton is that team but you never know.
Exactly Taff. I know the Swans what to make a drama out of it (again the irony) but MM did what he was asked to do, and we hope a new manager will build on the platform given. I am not 100% that MM will go yet, but I will hardly cry and sob if he does. I will also thank him forever and a day for what he has done. I am always suprised at the slagging that Martinez and Rodgers get for doing a good job. Anyone else like Curbishley? Can't understand why he has not been given a job.
Agree Siam that Martinez and Buck do a good job...but Curbishley, sorry !! If MM does decide to go, good luck to him. Not sure about having no funds as some people think tho - Baines and Fellaini to ManURE, if the gossip is true, would bring in £25m+ and put him on Par with VT's money. If he'd come, It'd be Raffa for me.
It is hard to see Everton spending £25M even if Fellaini and Baines leave for Man Utd, the Everton board are now very determined to get a grip on their finances. They have done a great job over the last two seasons and will not want to revert back to the days of losing £10m-20m per season, they have ground to make up before the banks decide to reel in the overdraft... figuratively speaking. But I would think MM would be interested regardless as they currently have a Top 6 squad and will likely use their funds to replace the young lanky Belgian who is surely going.
have to agree with the jacks regrettably, i wasnt impressed at all by malky on MOTD. non committal stock statements, whereas laudrup was totally honest and that disappointed me...... kenright said they havent made a decision and will take his time. i think their fans will expect a bigger name than malky, but if approached they could do a lot worse, and though i think he'd be better off here, he would go IMO....
No good losing any sleep over this. Remember only us fans are in it for the long term. Players, managers and owners are all just passing through. If Malky goes he will be replaced and we all move on. Could be a case of 'The King is dead, long live the King'.

Kept my powder dry so far on this subject, but here's my take on it. I think if offered a favourable deal Malky will go, but the situation and non commital by Malky might be a clever way of strengthening Cardiff City's long term commitment to him as our manager. Give me what I need to see the job through in the short term and I'll stay for the long term. Lot's of private debate going on behind closed doors if you ask me. If we don't currently have one, a contingency plan for when he does move on should be put in place as soon as possible. It's not just a manager that leaves these days, you must factor in players and backroom staff.
Why wouldn't MM play the game. I've gone for interviews in the past with no intention of taking the job, but needed to 'let slip' I was looking to facilitate a pay rise. MM could stay at Cardiff on an enhanced package if Tan wants him to stay. It works both ways. Equally, if MM makes a definitive 'NO' now, what happens the next time he is approached and is interested. Does he say 'NO' and lie or does he say maybe? So no means no and maybe means yes. Better to be be consistent and say maybe even if the answer is no so that when you say maybe in the future, people will say that the last time he said maybe it meant no so does he still mean no is this maybe a yes? Double, tripple and quadrupple guessing what is going on.
It may wel be a case of "I don't want it, but would still liked to be asked if I do" highers the profile. It's good both are in the frame (MM and ML) shows they're both doing something very right. But, and here's the thing, neither have been asked so it means little at the moment.
Sadly, as MM had been successful with you guys you will get these stories, no drama from me though. Should your manager go, you'll get a new one who will take you where MM would have, unchartered waters.
This is all very de ja vu to me! The big clubs take their time, managers heads get turned, players and coaches follow, important time for squad building is lost as the 'smaller' club needs to find the right guy at the top. Meanwhile the true blood of the clubs are having the odds/media/rumours almost making a mockery of your succesful last season and your hopes for the next before the current one's even over! Still, its flattering!
You are right Swim. To be fair, I think MM would be a bit of a risk for a team. I have to say, I thought Everton may have been able to attract a higher quality of manager. It makes me wonder how much they are willing to spend. Now, I would hope MM would understand that as well. They are looking to be cheap, and as Moyes will attest, they have been like that for awhile. Of course MM knows that many newly promoted managers don't last their first season. Mind you, following Moyes is not an easy task. If Everton were down in 14th or 15th, I think the manager would be under immense pressure as well.
