Before i start, i know people are gonna say 'this is a Sunderland board, blah blah blah...', but i'm gonna start this thread anyway and update it through the season, i'll be including a few photo's from La Roselada, and a few from the official SAFC bar in Benalmadena, i imagine there'll be some sights ;)

So, background, Malaga CF were taken over in December by a Qatari sultan, this fella makes the Man City lot look like a corner shop, as well as buying the club, he has bought a 2 mile stretch of the marina in Marbella, and is going to redevelop it in a similar way to the Dubai palms.

    Not skint.

Malaga finished a respectable 11th last season, after looking certs for relegation before the new money brought in Sergio Asenjo, Ignacio Camacho, Julio Baptista, Martin Demichelis and Enzo Maresca, as well as highly regarded former Madrid coach, the Uruguayan Manuel Pellegrino.

Form, as you can imagine, improved dramatically, which brings us on to this summer.

First up, a multi-million pound kit deal with Nike, to replace the outgoing li-ling (who? Exactly...).

Second, the coup of the ageing, but undoubtably high profile Ruuuuud Van Nistelrooy.

With the team already beginning to take a real shape, Apono is a highly talented midfielder with an eye for goal, Jesus Gamez, the club captain a strong and rugged right wing back, maybe the most impressive batch of signings were finalized this week.

Former Sunderland target, Argentine 'wonder kid' Diego Buonanotte arrived permanently, after an initial deal in January, Joris Mathjisen, a composed and strong Dutch international centre back arrived from Hamburg, and finally, one of my personal favourite players to watch (when he can be arsed), former Valencia star Joaquin Sanchez, or just 'Joaquin' as he has been known, arrived yesterday.

15,000 fans were present at La Roselada as he signed on the pitch.

Looks like i'm gonna have 2 fascinating teams to watch this season, my beloved partner for life, my Sunderland Association Football Club, and my exciting 'fast car, no knickers' mistress Malaga CF.

Is it not ****ing August yet???

Sunderland till i die, by the way!

I know mate, that's gonna be unreal, and the 2 derbies with Sevilla and Betis, Atletico, Villareal and Valencia.

Gonna be a great experience for sure, and at a great time.

Aye, they can build a new city centre while they're on!

We've got the beaches and a new "Dubai Palms" marina in the North Sea would look good :)

I love our beaches Sid, especially as a Seaburn lad, but the scallies and the freeing ****ing cold will always be the achilles heel..

Our beaches wipe the floor with EVERY beach i've been to along the Costa Del Sol (15 ish), but the glorious weather will always win out.

If we had sun, Sunderland would be a thriving tourist hotspot, instead of a mismatched hotch-potch that looks like it was based on Bagdhad post war.

The problem with the tourism strategy for British towns/cities, is that it always seems to emulate Mediterranean towns/cities, when in truth, we don't have a climate anything like theirs, so any attempt to copy them will fail.

For example the constant attempts to import a "cafe culture" and Al Fresco dining into Britain strikes me as stupid, we don't have the climate to suit this, and never will! We should look at how other countries without a warm continental climate create appealing tourist environments, Scandinavian countries, Bavaria. They manage to, so should we! At the moment to anyone outside the UK, the only tourism spot is "London". Thats it.

Climate change might lend a helping hand. Might get colder instead though... Fascinating post by the way!

Such a tragic shame Comm that some of the most idyllic and naturally beautiful spots in Thailand were allowed to degenerate into 'neon hells'.

    Progress? Pah.

    Soooo,

Been a bit quiet down at Malaga since I initially started this thread, i'll start by listing a signing i missed in the initial signing, the excellent Jeremy Toulalan signed o from Lyon for 10 million euros, another eyebrow raising coup.

Everything Malaga had done so far, however was blown out of the water today, when they announced the signing of Barcelona, Real, Sevilla and Arsenal target, the superb Santi Cazorla, from Villareal for a starting fee of 19million euro.

I'm getting a little bit excited about going to watch this side next season, a Champions League challenge is surely on the cards.

Can't wait for that one mate, obviously, and Real.

The big one though is Sevilla, apparently it gets pretty charged, and with Malaga now big competition to Sevilla for top 4, it should be a naughty one, intrigued to compare it to the NE derby.

We're going away to Bilbao and Atletico as well, 2 stadiums i wanna see before the bulldozers!
