Remembr reading the Brighton forum after our match at the AMEX they suggeted we had to make sure we "brought" enough of the loan players to ensure we only had 5 on "loan" as such by the end of January otherwise we'd find ourselves in trouble from the FA/FL?

Is that correct hence the hope we would sign a few this month.

Hopefully we'll buy FF,Adbi,Vydra and FF plus a couple others just to cover ourselves.

Great news, and love his final comment, “I will give my heart for the club.”

I'm sure that Leo - the resident Money Man and Spreadsheet whizkid - could tell you exactly what that is in today's terms, not to mention when would the optimum time to collect. ;)

Not too sure that I would have wanted his signature to be the first one as despite his cult following I am not sure yet what his best position is. Still it is good to have a player of his quality as a Watford player.

Did the WO really mean what it said about the signing? "Forestieri has excelled since his arrival in England and becomes the first of the Udinese and Granada loanees to sign permanently, with more expected to follow in the coming months." If they meant this rather than days or weeks, then it suggests to me that everything is being managed for the benifit of the 'group'

I would have thought we'd want to tie up the loan players Zola wants quickly on contracts....and then maybe move the rest on or keep a coulple to give them more time.

So long as these deals are for our benefit I am happy...ie we don't see them flogged in a year or we get any money from selling the players.

A simple Purchasing Power Calculator would say the relative value is £58.86. This answer is obtained by multiplying £10.00 by the percentage increase in the RPI from 1976 to 2011.

There you go BB, I am afraid that it doesn't beyond 2011, but add another 2.5% for good measure and it won't be far out. There are other ways of calculating it which would bring it up to double that, but I am sure you wouldn't wish to do him for more. Or would you? <laugh>

Don't forget that he lives in Oz - the fluctuating exchange rates over the years must surely have some impact on the equation?

I could - but I would need to know if it was invested in property, gold, shares (UK or foreign markets) - or just stuffed under a mattress :) lol - that was for Yorkie - see another thread

I must hold up my hands as I didn't expect them to sign unless necessary but it's great news and I'm very pleased.
Does anyone know how long he had on his old contract?
