As I'm sure a few of you already have seen, there are a few statements from Klug upon his return to the club, I just wanted to point out this snippet regarding long term planning, which I have to say is quite a refreshing read and probably indicates the lessons learnt by the owner and Clegg after their previous mistakes. The future is looking promising.. âIf we have a good academy with a good philosophy and nice style and we look after the kids and thereâs an opportunity, thatâs the main thing thatâs really attractive. This club now has a long-term plan that really is going back to being involved with the academy. The opportunity is there.â He says that this was key to him taking the job: âThe managerâs really interested in it, the owner is committed to it, both of them are. âWhen I was talked to, I thought that that long-term plan was so abundantly clear that I was going to leave a really top academy to go to an environment which is promoting that again. âThereâs never been a timescale put on it, but the owner and the manager are now looking on a long-term basis and this is part of it. I wouldnât have left Tottenham if I was coming into a situation where there was no value put on the work that weâre doing here. I think thatâs a massive change.â He says manager Paul Jewell wants him to bring through young players to go into his first team: âThe discussions Iâve had with the manager have been on that basis.
I have to say I am extremely encouraged by everything he has said coming back to the club. It almost feels like we are gradually recovering from the Keane mess and getting back to the club we were when Burley was here after the whole chucking money at it under Magilton (short term approach, which tbh I thought was probs the right thing to do at the time and was a gamble that didn't come off) then the Big Name manager who seemed to want to get rid of anything at the club that was related to our tradition and the so called 'Ipswich way' when infact that way has been what has made us punch above our weight as a club. I think what we need now is some sort of plan set out to the fans and to get rid of this PL at the earliest opportunity nonsense!!
