250 Wigan fans at Wolves today. Just about sums up how they have overstayed their welcome in the Prem. Blackburn are no better and Bolton little better than both of them. Dull teams in dull towns. We've probably taken close on 10,500 fans away in our last 3 league games on the road. I doubt Wigan will total 10,500 away fans in all their games this season. Would be good to see less north west teams in the Prem, with of course, our mighty Saints going up to bring not only some geographical balance, but sizeable support too.
I'm sure the residents in these 'dull' Lancashire towns will be pleased to hear this, not withstanding football We can take it that Corrie and Emmerdale aren't on your TV watch list then Agree about the poor away support of some of these clubs but very early in the season to say these 3 will go down
The original post was extremely condescending to Bolton (the same Bolton which won 5-0 today), Blackburn and Wigan. Regardless of your view on their away support, they have all earned the right to play in the Premiership by being promoted and avoiding relegation thus far. They have as much right to play in the Premiership as any other club. No club, regardless of the size of their support, has the automatic entitlement to play in the Premiership nor is any club somehow more entitled to play in the Premiership than any other club. While I would like to see more Southern representation, I cannot begrudge the teams mention for getting promoted and avoiding relegation.
Though a little brash with your comments CBK, I have to agree. Our away support has been superb this season so far. Good to see you alive and kicking.
Come the end of the season I doubt that those three will all be relegated, although it looks bad for Wigan which is a pity as they have a bright manager and a principled chairman....dull towns? bit unfair Blackburn and Bolton are football towns with sound football pedigree...personally I would prefer to see the larger clubs at risk, small clubs punching above their weight makes for good football...but agree on one thing...someone is going to have to make way, I really do think this time we're coming.
Wigan are keeping our spot safe for us - they got promoted as we went down, now the tables will turn ! but there is still a long way to go yet so lets not get carried away with ourselves
Wigan are awful... Only god knows how why they've survived so often in the premier league.. they will be relegated this year.. they are crap!
Yeah Wigan aren't a proper football club no history,no tradition, nothing. They will soon be going down the leagues and hopefully to L1 or L2 a league that suits them.Let's be honest,Wigan, nearly every home game they can't fill their stadium up and when the premier league is broadcast to various contries this reflects badly on the league itself. Hopefully the saints will replace them and show them what a proper football club is.
Agree... We could Still get relegated! We won't stay where we are for the full season. We will finish 8th. I said that before te season had kicked off
No,they are more of a rugby club not a football club. Wigan don't have any history or tradition,it's just a club that has seriously overachieved.
Wigan have overchieved.. but by merit have deserved there spot in the premier league by Brilliant management under paul jewell... But being in the prem and now having any fan base.. supporting costs to buying any tickets/ merchandise they don't go forward!! No one looks at them as potential club for european greatness... thus they will get relegated and ammount to nothing more.. good bye wigan!
Exactly, they've done so well for a club that size but they've got very little potential so bye wigan.
I am pleased Norwich and Swansea are in the PL as it gives people in other parts of the country a chance to see top flight football regularly. If Brighton, Reading and Saints could all be in the PL that would be just dandy. They are all great clubs with modern stadia, sensible owners and most importantly they are the three best supported southern clubs.
I wasn't referring to the belief that you'll get promoted being arrogant, just the attitude towards certain other clubs. All this fixation with being a 'proper' club seems a bit snobbish to me.
