    What you will.

    But certain days mean different things to different people

    I love this weekend usually, watching the old /young folks stand together, The Pomp, the medals the uniforms,
    The Remembering, even for a few brief moments.

    I sometimes go over the town to the memorial, just to watch this day.

    But this year is going to be so different.

    Just 26 veterans allowed at Cenotaph as Poppy Day hit by COVID restrictions

    With proud thanksgiving, a mother for her children,
    England mourns for her dead across the sea.
    Flesh of her flesh they were, spirit of her spirit,
    Fallen in the cause of the free.

    Solemn the drums thrill; Death august and royal
    Sings sorrow up into immortal spheres,
    There is music in the midst of desolation
    And a glory that shines upon our tears.

    They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
    Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
    They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
    They fell with their faces to the foe.

    They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
    Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
    At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them.

    They mingle not with their laughing comrades again;
    They sit no more at familiar tables of home;
    They have no lot in our labour of the day-time;
    They sleep beyond England's foam.

    But where our desires are and our hopes profound,
    Felt as a well-spring that is hidden from sight,
    To the innermost heart of their own land they are known
    As the stars are known to the Night;

    As the stars that shall be bright when we are dust,
    Moving in marches upon the heavenly plain;
    As the stars that are starry in the time of our darkness,
    To the end, to the end, they remain.

    We were in lock-down for ANZAC day and probably more people came out onto their drives, balconies and terraces than normally attend the commemorations and as dawn broke they remembered. It was as moving as the traditional remembrance and in some ways more heartfelt.

    Just have to find your own way to remember on this occasion. Hopefully the world will get back to normal soon.

    I dont think there is a going back to normal mate.

    The contrast of it atm. We remember those who gave their lives at a rate of 10s of thousands culminating in millions of dead.

    and now we fail to properly pay homage to that because 1\20th the number that are killed yearly by sloth (obesity) and stupidity (smoking) combined, died from COVID (90% of COVID deaths were not caused by covid, they were caused by getting COVID when they already had some other morbidity that was killing them anyway)

    Hope all is well matey, good luck.

    I am not making it "a time and place".

    I am making a point of this nonsense stopping that sacrifice being sufficiently recognised.

    I'll leave it at that mate.
