Loftus Road has a capacity of just over 18,000 but is yet to sell out this season, and the club feel the atmosphere is not helping the team's disappointing form. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's side are without a win in their last four home games, a run which saw them pick up just two points and lose 6-0 to Newcastle. With the atmosphere around the ground deteriorating along with results, the club have been forced to issue a rallying cry to supporters. "Loftus Road is a stadium renowned for its unique matchday atmosphere, which is something QPR supporters should be rightly proud of,” said chief executive Lee Hoos. "Matchday atmosphere...... has lost its way a bit in recent years for one reason or another" How about truly dreadful football played by a bunch of overpaid idle ****ers, managed by the rejected Chuckle Brothers who didn't make the cut into kids TV? FFS. Easy solution, import the Ost Kurve from Hertha Berlin to pack out the Loft for every game.
How on earth are we supposed to make more noise when the football is dire? The only noise I want to make is to call them a bunch of w**kers!
Make the lower loft, paddocks and school end standing again. Oh, and maybe trying to attack the oppositions goal once in a while might also help.
Oh I see, it's the fans' fault. **** me! Try playing half decent football and get the family stand out of the loft.
Been cracking on about this for a while and mentioned it to Mr Hoos when I met him The LR atmosphere on a evening kick off was right up there but I felt it slipping years back No excuses as we have the tightest stadium out there Yes there is a point about how fickle we have all become but the blame has to sit with the club's activities over the last few years Get Taarabt back that would change in 10 seconds IMO like him or hate him he was the last player we had as a 10 hooped shirt that preserved our identity The club now asking for this shows complete nativity again IMO I told LH hooped shirts Dennis the menace second kit and all white for thirds or combos of 1&2 strips It's an easy rebuild IMO now we have a decent logo as well We have Chery of course and he is getting better and better so the Adel stuff is n/a of course We used to put the fear up any away team because as a fanbase we are rightly fickle but we must start again and that starts on the pitch We stick with JFH IMO and plug away we cannot expect too much yet and it will all return
It's not gonna happen. Having been to more away games than home one's over the past 10 years due to work commitments,i can confirm that nearly all of the die hard fanatics that used to occupy the Ellerslie Road stand and a good majority of those that were in the upper Loft, now almost solely go the away games. I have to admit that the camaraderie and excitement that is generated on away days is far superior to home games. Whether this is down to the amount of alcohol consumed,or the nature of the fans attending is a matter of conjecture. But one thing's for sure,it can't solely be down to the quality of football on show. I can recall numerous matches at Loftus Road where the football on show was ****e,yet the noise levels and general atmosphere was totally different to what it is now. Things have definitely changed at HQ's,and I have to say not for the better. As much as I love Loftus Road, for the atmosphere and banter I much prefer going to away games these days. I hope with all my heart that the atmosphere that was built up during the late 60's and through to the 90's returns,as was the case with the play-off semi final win, returns, but in all honesty I can't see that it will !
I have been to a number of away games, most recently Huddersfield. Their home support put us to shame. We used to have a fantastic atmosphere at head office, but the performances (Preston for one) have left most of us dumb-struck. Very naive of the board to ask this.
Yet, attending away matches was pretty soul-destroying in Harry Kneecapp's time. Have to say, fans that go enthusiastically to away games but boycott home games is a new one on me (except games for the big Prem clubs where home tickets are unattainable). Clearly a C21st trend...
"We want ten, we want ten" chanted the Newcastle fans as they hit the post at 6 up nil up away to QPR. "We want .........one" sang back the R's fans. Still singing, still in good humour and louder than we'd any right to be, after witnessing the worst historic capitulation of our team at home. Give us something to sing about Hoos. Us fans have shown more commitment than the pi55poor management of the team could even begin to deserve. I think Hoos is a right cheeky ba5tard if he is whining about a lack of atmosphere when the team consistently propagate the dross show we have had to support.
Perhaps someone should email the club a link to this thread. Can't remember the last game I actually enjoyed watching.
