The next two transfer windows are massive for the club and as everygame passes it is looking likely that we are 4 maybe even 5 players short of whats needed and thats without even thinking about players who will be out of contract in the summer. MoN or whoever is manager if the worst happens needs heavily backing in January and then the summer but will Ellis Short be willing to invest 30-40m from now until September? He must be absolutely fuming with what is going on at the minute, surely? From my personal point of view as for now we seriously need a quality CB with abit of pace who is decent with the ball at feet, 2CM's and another option upfront and signing Rose up on a long term deal. As for the summer Killa, Bramble, Campbell, Saha are all out of contract and I would not at all be surprised if more go, we have a small squad now it is going to be even smaller then and another RB needs to certainly be on the cards. I hope Short is willing to plague money into the club because after all the money that has been spent since Short arrived we need EVEN MORE before we can be a comfortable premier league mid table club
just seen this and its very interesting.... The landscape of British broadcasting has shifted dramatically after BT bought a large slice of televised football rights, boosting the Premier League's next TV deal to a record £3bn over three years, a 71% increase. This equates to at least £14m more per year for each football club, with the bottom team in the league from 2013-14 onwards likely to receive more than the £60.6m Manchester City earned this year for ending the season as champions. Each individual televised match will now cost the broadcasters £6.6m, up from £4.7m under the previous deal. Money 'invested' now would be coming back to us via this deal. We simply cannot afford to miss out on it, therefore the gamble of spending further must be taken. .. I new the tv money coming in would be far more than currently but I didn't know by that much, its even more important we stay up now and invest heavily in the next 2 windows.
No, no, no! Buying our way out of trouble is worse than changing managers in my opinion and could cripple the club. I've said it before other teams in the premiership are spending very little with good scouting networks, so it can be done. Michu 2m Diame - free transfer West Brom have done well on a low budget as well MON doesn't generally shop abroad though and that will always disappoint me, unless he changes.
I keep hearing 30-40 million this window, my Question is how?. The FFP has started, it doesnt come into effect for another year or so but it does look at the last 3 years of accounts, which = this one. there is also talk of bringing it in for the PL, not just getting into Europe so if that happens and we are £XX million in debt we may get kicked out of the PL anyway (not sure what the punishments will be for it though but you get my drift). But then the other edge of the coin is, what player will come if we do spend 30 million, cant play in Europe in 2 years (if we get there but the quality of player we want will want to play in europe but they wont come if we have to spend silly money which we just dont have). I will be truthful and say i am not 100% sure of all the details of the FFP so there may and probably will be ways around it, but 30 million in 1 transfer window just wont happen, I am surprised he got £20+ million in the summer, Bruce had to break even year in year out. (not saying I want Bruce back, just making a comparison).
I don't think we have to worry about the fair play rules 2bh because firstly I think the finances at the club are fine especially with everything happening off the field and European football is the last thing we are thinking about at the minute. As for keep hearing about 30-40m in this window well my point of view and I should of worded it better would be we could possibly need to invest upto that much in the next 2 windows, not all in January but the summer as well. The problem with MoN is he is one dimensional in the transfer window and he is not known for shopping abroad. In todays game we all know that you get the bargains abroad and you pay over the odds in the premier league so that is one thing MoN needs to change if he is to succeed as football goes forward. As for actually splashing upto 30-40million well IMO at this very minute we need to sign up Rose, bring in a youngish CB with abit of pace, we need 2 CM's and we need another option upfront. As for the summer Killa, Bramble, Campbell and Saha are out of contract, knowing that and with them 4 players unlikely to get a new deal then another CB and CF are probably on the summer wish list and thats without more players going as will be the case and we still need aditions at RB and maybe another option on the wing that is 9 players in the next 2 transfer windows and with us after quality now I think we realistically need to spend 30-40m
If we get £15m in this window, which I think we need to sign the four or five players we desperately need, we're doing well and Ellis is being ****ing generous with no return. Because in terms of saleable assets we've got about 4 pence.
