Copied from SaintsWeb: "Finally being given a clean/repainting. Crane outside the Northam end when I went down this afternoon doing the work, looking much better on the outside of the stadium now, the structures are actually white again as opposed to a horrible dirty green mould colour! About time imo as the stadium was starting to look a bit tired and grubby on the exterior!"
Rather they had more people serving at half time. Last game I started half time 5 people back from the front, and it still took an age. The people behind probably didn't make it back in time for the start of the second half. That's one of the disadvantages of being in the premier league. The crowds swell in the concourse and people can barely move. Nothing like how it was in league 1 and the championship, when there were less people, and people could move freely.
I never understand why people make a big fuss about queues. Can you not go 2 hours without food or drink? A 3 o'clock kick off hardly coincides with regular meal times?
I usually have a drink when I arrive and carry a bottle of water in case I'm thirsty...can't be bothered with queuing. Back on thread...glad SMS is getting a spruce..about time.
I was pleased to see the guys in their Genie washing down the outside of the stadium this morning when i went to get tickets for Everton. It was starting to look quite dirty and is now much improved.
I do agree that eating/drinking at grounds isn't essential and don't get me started on idiots arriving late/leaving early because they'd rather have a beer than watch football, but surely Cortese wants fans to buy stuff. If you are offering a service, you should do it properly.
I was going to add to my chortle [but decided against it] that there was only one direction for this thread to head, and that was to highlight the early leavers and late returners from HT, inconveniencing everyone while they strolled to their seats.
Talk about miserable basrds. Are you going to die if someone gets to there seat 1 min after kick off. Some people like to talk with there friends during half time so gt back to their seat slow. Also if you're paying £45 for a ticket for a match and there is food on sale, not only is it reasonable that this is served efficiently but the club makes a lot of profit out of it. Much of that goes into players and enjoyment for you.
The very lovely Mrs Godders makes us a large flask of hot bovril and and a round of cheese and onion sandwich for half time. The problem with drinking several cups of bovril at half time is that just after the second half starts I need to go and empty my bladder (it can't hold very much these days) but a lot of people make sarcastic remarks about me leaving early and there is one rather unpleasant fellow who always tries to trip me up by grabbing my walking stick.
I find it strange that some people would want to queue for ages to eat expensive, unhealthy food, and then miss some of the football because they are late back. But since these folk do exist, you would have thought that it could be done more efficiently. Why can they not order and pay for the food/drink before kick-off and be given a ticket? The pies and pints could be prepared prior to half time and it would be very quick to pick them up in exchange for the ticket during the interval. In a more radical move, I think that if people get up during the match or dont return before the second half restarts, all the fans in that row ought to just shuffle along and they would have to return to the end of the row. The reason is that the bloke who got up five minutes before half-time in order to boat-race a pint is very likely to need to visit the toilets half way through the second-half. That way, he can only get on my thruppennies once.
Honest answer..? Yeah, I expect people back in their seats come the time the players are lining up for the second half. If I'm paying £Ns for a ticket, I don't expect to have to begin each half acting as a bloody jack-in-a-box. I was late for a match once, and waited on the stairs until HT. I am of the tolerant and understanding brigade. However, I don't expect people to operate on that assumption, and expect me to be that way all the time. My tolerance and understanding is a courtesy to those who make a mistake.
I agree! For the last ten years I have brought along a bag and it is packed with food and drink for all my family for the afternoon... And it probably costs around the same price as a hot dog and a coffee... Anyone see the burger stand outside the stadium in the Chapel/Kingsland corner. Bacon Baguette (what I used to buy) was £3, now five years on it is £4.50...and for that you get less too...
Why can't they just estimate the amount of pies required and prepare them ready for half-time? They must have a pretty good idea?
Nice Fonte there rj02 hooiveld believed it you could of made so much effort for two championship defenders..........................
