It comes down to our depth of squad - simply too small (or one can say too many injuries)......but that's the cause I believe.

    Great game though!

great game tonight - again BELIEF until last 20 mins. then Song & Walcott went into casual mode and it all drifted away.

Right - next up Newcastle. We are on a roll - COME ON ARSENAL.

To me i think Song has a real problem with fitness .

He seems to really slow down at about 60 mins.
His passing changes from good to really bad .
We had a good few chances but he seemed too slow to get the ball forward and gave possession away too much .

    Oh well .

He has a real problem with passing - Period.

Yes once in a while there's a good one - but 6 more are poor.
And just what is his role - beats me.?

Song goes for the killer pass alot. It has made a big difference this season (with some important assists) but means we have to deal with giving the ball away more often. Its a direct approach though and actually works well with how we are playing.

.....i totally fail to see just what arsenal fans see in song. total liability, he can't pass accurately and also fails to put the proper weight on the ball. and he is so slow. o.k. he can tackle, but he always seems to be in the wrong place for a defensive midfielder.

Song was one of the players that carried a knock into this game. Not sure what midfield will line up against Newcastle now. The injuries have gone from full backs to the Midfield.

  11. It's a pity and no great secret that we left ourselves too much to do following our visit to the San Siro that even such a great fightback had it's limitations. It's not the first time we have allowed ourselves to go down this route but perhaps the fighting spirit is back. Just in time I say so now we can concentrate on getting 3rd place in the EPL <ok>

We lost today because of that woeful performance in Milan, plus bad refereeing decisions, Milan's second goal at the San Siro should have been offside, and the penalty given to them was very very weak, if that had been us it would have never been given, even the penalty we were given today was not immediately given the ref had to bloody think of it until the goal post ref made it clear it was a penalty. but having said that, we were really atrocious at the San Siro.

The OP is right. We tired in MF and didn't have options on the bench, due to injuries. I think one of Ramsey, Benayoun, Diaby, Frimpong, Coquelin, Arteta could have made the difference with our ball retention in the 2nd half.

The main reason we couldn't get the 4th goal was because once we lost Oxo and Walcott and our depleted MF struggled for an outlet, which meant that Song and Rosicky eventually tired and were overrun.

Arteta, Diaby, Benayoun, and Coquelan all out, and even if Frimpong was with us or recalled as an emergency, he's out too! that's 5 midfielders out, and then we lost Walcott too= 6, and add the fact that Rosicky was playing with a knock, oh and Ramsey and Wilshere were both out too, we were basically missing 7 midfielders before the game, and 8 when Walcott had to be removed.

from what i could make out Song is a weakness in your team, one of his main faults is giving the ball away in dangerous area's and going missing at times when you are under pressure

I thought that Song didn't play well yesterday. Too many misplaced passes and too casual with the ball. Walcott had a great first half but went to sleep in the second.
And what's with Szczesny and his bad kickouts and throw outs, putting his own defense under immediate pressure? I've seen this too many times for it to be a one-off.

But Wenger says the performance was 'faultless' . What planet is this guy on?
The final 20-30 minutes was poor, we lost our way, players tired, we seemed to lose belief, far too many mistakes.
Milan were the better side for at least the final 20 minutes.
Faultless !!! Praise the effort by all means but don't say that nonsense.

What do you expect? We made mistakes because we were knackered, the players had no legs left and we had no direct replacements for those who got injured as opposed to being horse-sh*t. Of course the midfield is going to get overrun if there's just a very tired Song/Rosicky there. I firmly believe that had AOC not have got injured we'd have got the 4th goal and possibly even more. I don't think there was any lack of belief there, just nowt left in the tank. Presumably Wenger is trying to keep the players spirits up as they all looked drained at the end of the game, both physically and emotionally.

Saying that... thought Song was sh*te all game (and I usually rate him) and I hope in private he gets the paddling his 'passing' so clearly deserves.
