So we have a bit of down time between games and a fair bit of negtivity on the board so lets lighten the mood What magic moments do you remember? Not necessarily best match but might be a particular goal, a funny song, meeting your favourite player at a kebab van. You name it, lets hear it. I'll kick off with a couple - Luton Town away with a ban on away fans and Les Ferdinand breaks away from the half way line in the last minute. The unadulterated joy as he tucked it away and then realising a large proportion of the stand were R's fans in disguise. Not least the bloke sitting next to me who said 'i've only kept quiet as I didn't want any trouble from you!' Or coincidentally Luton again with a 6-1 hammering at home and seeing Paul Parker score his one and only goal for the club!
One comes to mind in my first Rangers game. It was at Old Trafford in December 95 and a 17 year old with the name of Nigel Quashie making his debut. We lost (shock), but watching him play brilliantly AND nutmeg the one and only Eric Cantona still lives strong in my memory. What could have been if only we didn't go down that season...
QPR 3 - WEST HAM 1 FA CUP 4th Round 1988. Now that was what a full Loftus Road looked like. With all the fake tickets in excess of 30,000 estimate and game held up for over an hour whilst everyone squeezed in to different areas. To top it all I was stood directly in line of Pizantes screaming goal to the top right corner. Great memories and worth a view on the link! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znB4GWJWPY0
Let's have some fun / happy memories to cheer us up! Anyone else present at this one? QPR vs MANCHESTER CITY 25th October 1994 QPR 3 Man City 4 Gallen 1 Summerbee 37 Sinclair 38 Curle pen 47 Penrice 87 Beagrie 54 Lomas 59 Att : 11,701 Yes we lost but never have I been at another game with three goals scored straight from the restarts. Gallens first after 13secs, brilliant !
If I remember the 6-1 correctly, I think the score-board said it was Clive Wilson that scored not Parker? I seem to recall him grabbing Parker and pointing at it?? I also remember Falco scoring a great volley in that game?
Growing up in a Liverpool supporting household, the 3-2 win in 1989 always sticks out. I can't remember who scored off the top of my head, but I do remember Trevor Francis' wife running down the steps of South Africa Road to plant about 20 kisses on him at the final whistle (no idea why he wasn't in the dugout)??
