Now Jerome Thomas has come out & stated he isnt going to return to Elland Road, could this pave the way for Mad Max to return??
Many posters have said we didnt need both of them & Gradel has intimated he would be up for a return to Yorkshire.
Can the new regime pull this one off by pulling out their fingers??
It would certainly win over a lot of waivering fans who are losing faith in the new owners faster than Bates can count his £52m!
    Comments anyone???? :emoticon-0111-blush

Would love it, but it won't happen. We don't have the money, it would appear. And why would Max give up a flourishing career in the French top flight for mid-table Championship mediocrity (and probably on 20% of his current earnings)?

However, a man can dream! <wah>

Because signing Max Gradel would be an indicator that we're not going to be in mid table mediocrity, and a sign of things to come.

Yes, an indicator to all & sundry if the transfer did indeed go through. But I'm talking about it from Maxie's point of view. I mean, would you risk your career and take a massive pay cut 'cos you used to love playing for a club? He probably loves the club he's at now too, tbh. It's a big ask of him & I don't think he would reply positively if formally approached.

But again, we all live in hope.

He talks about us a LOT on twitter, he REALLY loves Leeds. It wouldn't surprise me if there was a buy back clause in his contract, based on how much he loves Leeds. St Etienne aren't all that, and there's **** all money in the French league except for PSG

I think I speak for everyone when I say we would all love him back, it would show signs of intent from the new board, however how much expectation would there be on his shoulders to perform week in and week out, we all know what he is capable of on the day but do we hold him up to be our talisman a little too much like we still do with Beckford to a certain extent.

To me the signing of Gradel would be the difference between finishing midtable (where i think we'll drop to without significant signings) or finishing in that 6th spot.

Gradel would be what we need to take us forward for this season, with maybe another winger in a similar mould so we can play one on either side if we have to, and there's cover. It's wingers that we need to complete the squad and make us threatening. Our best play has been when we've used the wings.

In the summer, I think we'd be looking at packing out the rest of the squad with players of similar quality to Gradel. A flair player for the middle is what I'd want, and a left back who's good at the back and good going forward.

Tonge on a nominal fee shows what we can expect. I believe Warnock has been given no more than £1m to spend, Blackstock was going to be his main target at around £800k, only Warnock believes a striker is priority. Forget Gradel, it just isn't going to happen wage or transfer fee will ensure that.

Ristac, you might be right, but you also might feel a little more at home on JA where all the whingers & whiners hang out. I have a more positive outlook on life & feel that until the club or Gradel says otherwise, there remains a possibility that he will return.

Time will tell & like everyone else, I'd like to see a big signing. Its just that they are few & far between in this window where too many players' prices are over-inflated. So it makes little sense in doing too much business.

Sorry I thought this was a forum for debate, I didn't know you had to live in fairy land to post here, I thought being realistic and posting your thoughts were okay, I suggest you place me on ignore my friend.

It fu**s me off just as much those that knock anyone on here for saying it as they see it. Tonge is an average player, Hall has been awful, Tate on loan, you think there is anything to be positive about in this transfer window and you think Gradel will be returning, dream on.

Have to disagree with you on the Tonge issue buddy. I think he has looked good for us in the middle or out on the flank! He's chipping in with the goals as well so I think this is a steady buy but not a mind blowing one. I would rather have Tonge than not is what I am trying to say, even though he wouldnt strike fear in my heart if we came up against him! I thought Tate was a good bit of business as well, but he seems to be suffering from LDS (LUFC defender syndrome) as of late (look how well Bruce has done since he went to Hull FFS!)

As for Gradel, we can all dream. Wont happen as the lad quite rightly should be playing champions league football next season! Yes he loves Leeds, a lot of players cant shift the bug of LUFC once they have been bitten but money talks. I guess if Haigh & co could pay him a decent wage & sell him on the future theres a small chance his head may get turned purely because he loves us ala Craig Bellamy. Otherwise a player of his quality shouldnt even be linked with a mid table championship club, you dont see Derby linked with the likes of kevin prince boateng because it just wouldnt happen!

Misread the 'Macron' as 'Moron'. That would be just about right. Wasn't he our first L1-level signing? (even though we were in the PL at the time!).

I don't mind anyone seeing things better than I do, it was just the tone in which it was put over got me, yes I might be feeling a bit negative lately the way things have panned out. I was basically saying I don't believe Gradel will come and although I agree Tonge in the team is better than Tonge out it shows how poor that midfield currently is. It also shows what our expectations should be, Tonge for a nominal fee.

Accepted and moving on, your tone just surprised me <ok>

I agree about Tonge, hes a do a job kind of player, but as you pointed out a lot arent actually doing there jobs too well! <ok> Young Ross Barkley will probably start in the middle now, with Tonge back out on the flank :)
