Mad Dog and Discipline

Seems like new manager Martin Allen is going to be taking no ill-discipline from the players. I am liking everything I read about this guy at the moment...

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/18795860?

I wonder who the player was that would have been leaving the club rapid if he had not brought his passport along.

This is how it has got to be, these players cost our club a fortune, just look at the wages quoted recently for a player that has a grievance with the club. Welcome to the real world and if you do not like it, there are alternative jobs to football, some that only pay the minimum wage.

Martin at the moment seems a down to earth, straight talking guy and I am so looking forward to the new season with this attitude. He appears to recognise the efforts you and me go to getting to games in sun, rain and snow and how much it costs us to get through those turnstiles. So a message to all the players, graft hard and you will be supported 100%. Alternatively if you think it is going to be easy while I am sitting in a freezing cold Medway stand in mid-winter, then close the door on your way out.

ive just read this (and was ready to post the link) but I have to say i like it a lot. bout time players took some resposibility, like when lee came out at the end of last season and said it was the players fault and ultimately it is if there is a squad of players in place good enough, yes tactics can play a part but if players dont match their potential the the manager is always the one that looks silly and takes the backlash.

note to players do not piss of allen or its gonna be a tough season for you!!

Martin Allen was not my first choice but the more you hear him and about his methods the more i am beginning to think Scally has made a good appointment. He has raised the profile of the club through his talk sport radio work, already started to make the club seem a more professional outfit. Looking forward to the new season already.

All these people praising Allen for the changes he is bringing in surprises me, not because they aren't the right thing to d obut by the fact that they weren't done before?! What the hell was Hess playing at, by the sounds of it he was too busy trying to be the players friends than a proper football manager. With him running such a shoddy shop is it any surprise that Hess second reign was a failure?

Ps without wanting to sound like Always, I want to point out that I said bringing Hess back to the club was a mistkae and it looks like the history books are backing me up!!

I am so happy Martin is the manager, he is so honest in the way that he talks, what we need from a manager.

don't get to attached hoadie, lets wait and see what he does first mate

regards the passport does it really matter, as long as he learns from it...though i'd guess it one of the younger lads...surely it wasn't a senior player <yikes>

Yeah that is what I was thinking, someone who is not organised, surely there ain't any of them in the first team who would forget their passport.
No I am not getting to attached, well trying not to, but it is hard not to as he is showing the signs of someone who could bring us glory, hopefully it will work out as I think Martin is made for us.

When Martin Allen was appointed I was undecided, He was always going to be linked for job having applied before and didn't really jump out at me. I do admit that Lee Clark was my preferred choice for the manager's role. However I have been pleasantly surprised by Allen's interviews. I knew that he would be tough on discipline anyway, but the fact he is trying to make the players empthasise with us the fans gives me hope in the fact he can convince the players to really be able to play for the shirt. Heres hoping to a successful season under Mad Dog!

Martin was my first choice before names like Lee Clark, Paul Ince and other top names were mentioned so like I have said I was very happy to hear that he has been appointed.

Im loving Martin Allen's interview! The guy says it how it is! I completely respect what he has to say and think that is already transmitting to the players and the fans!

Joe Martin? He's seemingly constantly stranded in a far away land.

Yes, he does and did change his mind every five minutes. Like I said at the time, I selected Steve Bruce and made myself look a total ass but I would rather that than be inconsistent in my opinion.
