ahh i forgot OLM has secret inside knowledge that Nick himself does not have... sorry but you seem to often state that you know whats going on at the club, or hint towards who we're going to sign/sell... very rarely does it happy though.
Barmby mentions they would accept a 'silly money' bid. But I don't think that is going to happen. The story also mentions Simpson. I can't believe he is on £11,000 a week !
the ploy could be to get Mclean in the spotlight and so attract bids.. I seriously doubt Mclean has impressed NB that much.. Sorry but as good a workhorse as he is, he doesn't possess the quality to take us where we want to be.
What Barmby is saying, although maybe not accurate is right. If he stays (because no one comes in for him) it comes across as with value him and he's in our plans. However when another striker comes in and Mclean goes, Barmby will probably say 'With xxxxxx joining us, it made sense to let Mclean leave, he needs to be playing football blah blah blah.' Clever management really.
I agree with TigerCity, he's had a full season with us now and we've seen what he can do, League One standard I reckon at best. Great lad though but hopefully OLM's insider knowledge means we will let him go and maybe get some money back on him.
I think he's a decent player but not really what we need in our system. He'll do a job for a lesser championship team.
Might of been reading to much in to something but I get the impression he's off back to the Posh. I don't think it will be for Sinclair though.
Exactly - he is hardly going to say a player who has a contract with us for next season is rubbish and we don't want him. That not only makes him unattractive to any clubs thinking about buying him, or if he does end up staying, it demotivates the player and causes friction in the squad. What a manager says to the press and what he thinks and says behind closed doors are two very different things.
i wouldnt waste even your few quid on it. Mclean WONT go. Nobody will offer silly money for him. Clubs will now have to adhere to FFP plus the fact we are now living in a recession. I would suggest that any money splashed out this summer would be on far better players than Aaron McLean.
OLM knows what's going on and so does PT. Anyway if McLean goes it will almost certainly see us get someone better to replace him, whether that's by selling him for a fee or a straight swap, so going by your usual 'best case scenario will always happen' criteria you should be expecting him to leave.
Nor I. Do we ever learn, ffs. Thats more than Noel Hunt is on reportedly and he has just got promoted with Reading. With most of the out of contract players not returning and by getting off the books Oli - McShane - Ghilas and Simpson City should have enough room for the players that NB wants to bring in.
