Can't believe some people are bashing Mackie! He's one of the players that gives 110% every game. All you have to do is see his goal celebration against Manure to see he loves the club.

Totally agree re the passion bit BUT I don't think that Mackie has had a good last couple of games (granted neither have a lot of the others either)

Our forward line just hasn't demonstrated enough movement, link-up play with each other or our midfield, and hasn't been working opposition keepers enough

I love Jamie's passion, but I would value some consistency too!

Agree. Loving us don't mean he's good enough, and he's not really good enough to be starting regularly at PL level.

He will be a key player next year IF we go down.

Agree, and if Harry brings in the quality he's after in Jan, I suspect Mackie will be coming off the bench to play - and could be really effective doing so

If we go down and Harry stays (as I think he will), then once the quality players (such as we have) have found a new club, the loanees go back to their respective clubs, the dead wood is discarded, the old players are retired, I could only think of Mackie, Nelsen and perhaps DJ Campbell we'd be left with! May be Faurlin too.

I am not sure Harry would stay.

Of course he won't. There will be an opportunity to go to another Prem club, or national team, etc and he'll think about it.

The board will tell him that they won't hold it against him if he goes, but in the back of their mind they will be sighing with relief as it will be another big earner out of the door.

If he gets the kind of funds that were available to Hughes (AND the same mega wage package), a cart blanche to create a new team, full support of owners etc I think he might just see if he can do what West Brom and West Ham have done and bounce back. Let's face it, he's not going to be offered a top six team now. Will he want to go up to Sunderland? or back to Southampton.

I think QPR is a good fit with where he is in his life now.

Harry still says we have a good chance of staying up so I guess too early to consider next season.
That's things for TF and Beard to have in the back of their mind.

You're right, but I had it in the front of my mind this afternoon when we went 2-0 down

Mackie will be bought by a Prem club IMO (and I can't say that about many of them) , what he brings gets seriously underrated.

At least Harry is open about everything.
SO IF the time comes, he will say if he stays or not pretty early I think.
Clear your head Goldhawk it's Liverpool Sunday.
Only have to contain Suarez, Sterling and a few others.
Must admit January might be a bit bleak.

Mate I like him as a player really. His effort is second to none. But both of ours wide players are hard working and no end product type of players. How many times today we looked like scoring? And tbh breaking down the flanks is far more easier than going through the middle where is a lot of players

Liverpool are losing 3-1 to Stoke as we speak. Hope it softens them up for Sunday.

With both Mackie and SWP in the starting 11 we'll never look like scoring. I know you love Mackie and I understand it. As I said already I really rate his work rate. Today he got us a couple of corners out of nowhere. But not the best footballer tbh.

Cannot fault him at all. Would love 11 of him or nelsen or hill.

Mackie won us corners from nothing and set up some decent chances. Him and SWP were doing all they could with little support tbh.

Steady on El Pirata I don't "love" any footballer, unless Kat Moon/Slater started playing football. :emoticon-0105-wink:
