Mackie admits he needs to manage his body differently to keep playing. If that means converting to a right-back in the future - the Rs favourite is up for it. "Full-backs maybe play a little longer; keepers certainly do,” he said. “I feel when you get to this age, it’s more about how well you look after yourself. Things take longer to recover, and injuries creep in more than they did." http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/qpr-ex-nottingham-forest-star-10021424? I seem remember him playing there in one match after Bradley Orr was sent off.
We certainly have strength in depth in our current squad, but I feel that we are weakest at right back. Do you think he has a chance of starting in place of Perch this Saturday?
My last recollection of Mackie in the right back position was against Wigan. It was in the 92nd minute and instead of booting the ball into row z of Ellerslie Road he mucked about trying to control it and gave it away. Wigan got the ball up the pitch and won a free kick which Maloney scored to make it 1-1. That result effectively sealed our relegation fate.
Why doesn't he convert to keeper He then ducked out of the way of the free kick (just as culpable as Adel) when in the wall. Plymouth beckons, siren like.
He can be 3rd sub right back, right wing or striker I don't mind As long as he doesn't get on the pitch
If you can take your head out of his arse long enough to look at this you will note he stood stock still, flinched and then looked around him after the ball went in - no jump, no attempt to block. He's a poor player and a rare step back for the squad with current management.
Sounds like he's looking to shore up his future payments as long as he can ......... For us mere mortals, the Social Security Benefits Scheme is our only choice. I've never questioned his perceived commitment to the club, only his skill level.
He won't feature on Saturday anyway. He's still injured ... ''QPR forward Jamie Mackie has been ruled out of Saturday’s game against his former club Nottingham Forest. The 29-year-old, who left the City Ground during the summer to return for a second spell with the R’s, is still recovering from a groin problem. Love him or hate him, I don't think you can blame him for not blocking a free kick that went straight for Taarabt's head. When you're 10 yards from a shot, you don't have the time to do anything but jump; you certainly won't be leaping around like a salmon, doing what they guy next to you should be doing.
? look at it again, he didn't even try to jump. At least Taarabt jumped before he chickened out. Anyway, at least we get to see Remy's goal again, one of the best I have seen at LR.
I really do not appreciate your tone, can't see the reason for bad mouthing me, you will see he stood his ground but flinched a bit but did nothing wrong. Don't bother answering because it will be probably rude again as I have noticed in previous threads you have a problem if people disagree with you. So let's just say you see it one way and I see it another, remember football is a game of opinions. By the way, I happen to think JM has been a good player and great servant to our club over the past few years with enthusiasm that has only been matched by one other player i.e. Clint Hill. I also believe that we would have been relegated in our first season back in the Prem if it had not been for Mackie, you probably have other ideas!
JC Sylvio, you're stretching your neck blaming Mackie for that! He'd have to jumped on Adel, then done a Superman jump all in a split second to reach that one. Still you are true to form, some of your criticism of your last hate figure were equally as daft!! Remy''s was goal of that season all right.
So... Mackie gets criticised for not jumping for a shot he couldn't have blocked (and neither did the player the other side of Taarabt), while Taarabt gets applauded for jumping and then ducking under the shot he could have blocked? Who's the villain? Yes, Remy's goal was excellent.
It was Mbia's unnecessary and idiotic challenge on Maloney that gave them the opportunity to equalise in the 94th minute. If you're going to blame anyone, blame him. Remy also struck the post earlier in the game. If only, if only.
