Anyone else think Mackie is like Marc Bircham? He also loved playing for the club and never gave up. Not just in it for the money.

Sad indictment of the modern day footballer when Mackie is praised for giving 100%. With the money they are being paid we should expect nothing else.

I just think he's a bloody good footballer, but has one or two more things to work on before he's real quality. Think he can get there, though.

Difference is Birch was QPR from birth, Mackie still have some way to go before he emulates him. But I agree with your sentiment '79.

If SWP scores the goal to save us tomorrow though I'll hold him in higher regard than Mackie to be honest.

Yes, Mackie's been through some changes. First he became QPR, then he became Scottish

Mackie is super hard working and loves playing, but the thing about Birch/Gallen/Rowly was that they were Rangers, they were fans, them winding up Brentford was one of the funniest things, especially Rowly <laugh>

This was discussed a couple of months back - when Mackie was getting stick for playing bad actually.

There's definitely similarities alright. The all action wholehearted displays are identical. Birch was like a head-less chicken though and at times was a dreadful footballer.

Mackie has gone from strength to strength and has optimized the little talent that he has. Hes definitely a contender for player of the season.

Although Im not a massive fan, no one can fault Mackie for being the ONLY player to give his ABSOLUTE ALL in EVERY game he played all season......

May not be the best but you cant fault him for trying.....

I won't praise him for trying either. I will fault those who don't give it 100%. Where was the fecking pride versus Chelsea?

Nice to see this I have certainly had faith in him from day one. His style is very confusing but he is different and only gets better there has never been anything wrong with our players IMO
It was a simple case of losing the team spirit . If we stay up I fully expect us to finish very high next year as do most pundits
